"Samuel," somebody calls from downstairs. "Could you come down to the kitchen for a minute?"

Who could that be? Mom stopped talking years ago, so it isn't her.

Downstairs I find that it was my father calling for me. "Father," I say unenthusiastically. "What do you need me for?"

"Ah, Samuel my rose among thorns," he says brightly. "Tomorrow is your eighteenth birthday, correct?"

"First off i'd rather be called Sam. And second yes tomorrow is my sixteenth birthday," I reply. He gives a small nod to my mother who has apparently shown up since I've been down here. Slowly she moves towards me. "What's she doing?"

Deciding it will be easier to let her do whatever it is shes doing I stay still.

She nods her head at my father. "Ahh... You're a lucky one Samuel. I'll see you soon." he says with a criptic smile, and walks out the room.

I check the clock and find that I only have 10 minutes to get to school. I hug and kiss my mom and rush out the door.

Class passes by fairly quickly. I groan at the thought of going back home to a silent house.

It's at times like these when I wish my mother still talked. I know that once a woman becomes a sheep their voice box is cut. I'm glad I never have to become a sheep.

At home I quickly pop into my room to put my school stuff away. Before I get out the door I catch sight of a note on my bed.

I find a note, a bouquet of white daisies, and a white button up shirt and white skinny jeans.

Samuel, come to my home at 5:45 tonight. I'm hosting a get-together for you and your siblings to meet each other.

Some important news will be shared with you . Ware one of the daises i to show your brothers just how beautiful my rose is.

I can't believe it. My father, the man that's never in my life, wants me to come to his house for dinner. And he wants to show my brothers how 'beautiful' i am, Im a boy, im not suppose to be beautiful.

I pick up the outfit and walk to my bathroom. After changing and brushing out my short brown hair I pin one of the beautiful daisies on my shirt.  I put on a pair of white converse to match.

Mustering up some courage I step outside and walk the short distance to my fathers house. I still manage to arrive late even with the short walk.

Knocking on the door I get no response. I knock again and get the same result. Instead of standing around like an idiot I open the door and let myself in. Following the noise, i find myself outside a large oak door.

"Does he really have the mark father?"

"Its not fair that Moss gets him..."

   Moss?

Taking a deep breath I push open the solid oak door. The talking stops when i step into the room. A collective gasp rings through the men in the room, before murmurs run through them.

A deep blush settles on my cheeks when I realise the murmurs are about me.

I take this time to notice the clothes the boys are wearing. They've all dressed in pastel button-ups and blue-jeans.

"Samuel!" a cheery voice rings out. "I see you took my advice with the flower. See now all the boys are in awe at your beauty. Now come sit down so we can all eat."

I sit down next to my father on his left while a handsome boy I know I've seen at school sits on his right. The boy on his right gives me a wink and my blush deepens.

Looking down the table I find faces of all ages. My guess would be that they range from the age of twelve to my age. A sudden wave of unease washes over me after I realise that there are no girls at the table.

"Where are all of the girls?" I question my father.

"My dear," he says cheerfully. "I don't have any daughters. You are the closest I have to a daughter and i'm sure Moss already likes you'' he says, gesturing to the boy on his right.

He's dressed the same as the others, but his shirt is a deep lilac, very different and my favorite color. I notice the high cheek bones like mine, full lips, bright blue eyes so different from my dull grey ones, and hair so blond it's white. Something pokes out of his hair but I don't question him.

"Why would it matter if Moss likes me or not?" I ask. "Plenty of siblings don't like each other."

A small smile plays on their lips. "Its not that important. Get some food its delicious. Isn't it boys!" my father calls. A chorus of yeses and hums comes from all down the table.

Taking his advice, I put a little bit of everything on my plate. Surprisingly all of it is good.

After dinner my father ushers us into a huge sitting room. When I sit down Moss sits next to me with everybody else crowding around me. Adrian drapes his arm around me making me uncomfortable.

I shrug his arm off. A hurt expression crosses his face before being replaced with a happy one. This confuses me, but before I can ask him about it my father starts to speak.

He thanks us all for coming, not that I wanted to, gives me a few more complements, making me blush. Just when I'm about to get fed up with all of this he starts talking about his 'important' news.

"Samuel you've probably been waiting for this all night," I roll my eyes. "Samuel you are to marry Moss. No excuses. You will move into his home over the weekend, then you will be happily married by the end of the month."
