Ahh, being an only child, what a lovely phrase. I am an only child, so I think I am eligible to make this story. If you're an only child, then you've heard it all. You've heard, "You're an only child? Omg you're so lucky! I wish I was an only child." Like I get it, you want some alone time and you like the fact that you don't have to deal with a sibling or share anything with a sibling, but you guys should be grateful that you have a person who kind of understands you and is sometimes there for you. I am such an only child, that my friends have turned into my siblings and their siblings have turned into my siblings as well.
Another thing I get when I meet someone who is not an only child is stereotypes. The one that I get the most is "Are you spoiled? I bet you're spoiled." I'm just there like, "Define spoiled." If you're talking about food, then yes, in fact if I want fast food or something, my parents will get it for me. If you're talking about getting w h a t e v e r I want then, no. But I don't call that being spoiled, my parents are just very generous in that case.
The most awkward thing I face with being and only child and having friends that have siblings is that when my friends are complaining about their siblings, I'm just sitting there like, "Oh you poor thing." Like what can I say.
The worst thing I have faced being an only child is that I spent most of my childhood, in my room, playing dress up or recreating some scenes from different movies that I like. Another stereotype I get is that people think that I spend way too much time with my parents, which is true, but doesn't everyone, I mean unless you have a really big family, then in that case you spend most of your time with everyone in your family.
But there are also good things about being an only child, you get some alone time, you get to have your own room and own toys, and your parents focus on you because that is all they have and you're always the center of attention.
So ha! Take that, being an only child is nice, but for those people who have siblings, you should be very, very grateful to have them. You might not love them now, but later in life, they will be very useful.
Well, that's it for today, thanks for listening to me rant about this. Bye!
