Months passed, and I, Hasel Grace, was still grieving. No matter what I did, the subject of Gus always came up and I was in tears. I always thought it would be me who would go first because in the beginning, Gus was fine, doing much better than I was.

Well as time passed, I started hanging out with Isaac. He seemed pretty cool. And just like me, he wasn't over Gus either. So to help out I always tried to change the subject. " So have you talked to Monica?" I ask politely. " Yeah, she's pretty pissed about her car. She threatened to sue us, but she still hasn't, so I don't see the problem." he exclaimed.

Since both of us were still tore up about Gus, wew decided to go to his house. We kmocked on the door and his mother answered. She looked horrible. Her hair was ratty, she looked depressed, and smelled of old eggs. When she let us in, we rushed to the basement where Gus' room was. I looked around, I was shocked. Everything was gone, like he never existed. I walked to the closet where his clothes still hung. I picked up the brown leather jacket that he had always worn. I run my fingers over the harsh material. His scent, of cologne, was still all over it. And I cried. He didn't deserve any of this, I did. I reach into the pocket and there I find the cigarettes, the ones that caused him to go to that gas station late at night...
