CHAPTER 19 - (LIV'S P.O.V.)
When I woke up I slid into my slippers and went to check on Rose. I saw her laying asleep in her bed and Bruno sleeping awkwardly in a rocking chair. My heart melted. I went over to Rose and pushed her hair out of her face and kissed her on the forehead.
"Wakey wakey!" I said.
She moved under her covers and when I said, "You want to make your favorite breakfast?" She quickly woke up.
"Yes!" She replied.
I told her, "You go down stairs and find something to watch on tv. I'll be down in a second." She did exactly that.
Then I went over to Bruno and sat in his lap. He woke up and smiled when he saw me.
"Good morning beautiful." He said.
I kissed him on the lips and said, "Morning love. How was Rose last night?"
"She was good. We talked with each other and shares some Oreos and had a lot of fun." He said while rubbing my back.
"I think she really likes you Bruno. And she doesn't open herself up to just anyone you know." I told him.
He grinned and said, "Well I'm glad because she is one of the cutest and sweetest kids I know."
Bruno said changing the subject, "Hey you look so gorgeous in the morning you know that?"
I smiled and said, "Oh I don't look like a bed head?"
"You sure do. A cute one though!" He said and hugged me close and kissed my cheek.
"Well thank you. Hey come on let's go downstairs and get something to eat." I said.
"Okie dokie!" Bruno told me.
I got up and Bruno followed me downstairs.
CHAPTER 19 - (continued)
I walked downstairs and went into the kitchen. Bruno, Rose, and I all cooked breakfast. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, and waffles. My sister and her husband smelled the food and they came and ate breakfast with us.
I thought to myself, "This is perfect."
Being with Bruno has completely changed me. He is so much more than I excepted. He makes me happy. The only thing that was pulling me along through life before was my baby, Rose.
I remember when it was going on a month that I didn't hear anything from my boyfriend. That was a hard time. I was still a young single parent, and no family. During that time, I felt so low, like my life was meaningless. I was a lost puppy and I didn't know what to do with such a sick child.
I never told anyone, but during that time I had bought drugs. This friend of mine I knew along my street dealt drugs. One night I met him in an alley, and exchanged some of the little money I had with cocaine. I was really nervous because I had never done that before (buying).
I went back home to my small apartment and went straight toward the bathroom. I sat down on the toilet lid and laid out the coke. I took deep breathes getting ready to snort it. Then I heard something.
CHAPTER 19 - (continued)
There was a faint sound of crying. I closed my eyes. It was Rose. That's when I hunched over and started to cry.
I remember back then I was thinking, "What am I doing? Are you going to throw your life away with drugs?"
I cried more thinking about it and looked up at the drugs. The choice was to do them or to not. It was a hard choice because I was so desperate for relief of all the pain I had.
In the background I could hear the wailing noise of my daughter. I picked up the drugs. That's when I made a choice that redeemed myself.
I threw the drugs away. I wiped away the tears, and from there on out I have never touched drugs ever again.
It was Rose who reminded me that I've got a lot more to live for. That's why I love her so much.
As I zoned back into the present, I hear Bruno ask, "Babe? Did you hear what I said?"
I looked up at him and smiled.
"No, sorry. What is it?" I said.
"Christmas is coming up, soo I wanted to ask you if you and Rose wanted to come over my house and spend time with my family?" Bruno said eagerly.
"Yeah! That would be awesome. Only if it's alright with Rose." I said looking at Rose.
She nodded, walked over to Bruno and hugged him saying, "Of course, it's ok with me!"
"Then it's a yes!" I said.
I went over to Bruno and he put his arm around me. Life was definitely good.
