Oh Great. . . My Mate

Chapter 1

Today was the day. My 18th birthday. "Yaaaayy" I thought to myself as I lied in bed with my eyes shut. There was no way in hell I was getting up, school day or not. My mom and dad always told me that I could have whatever I wanted for my birthday, and right now all I wanted to do was go back to sleep. But that wasn't happening. 2 seconds later my mom came barging into my room. "Morning sweetie!" my mom practically screamed, "Today's the big day! You could meet your mate today! Ahhh!" By the sounds of it you would think that she was the one finding her mate today, not the other way around. "Lucky me," I said sarcastically. "Honey, what's wrong? You should be excited! I know I am! Oh, I just can't wait to meet him, I bet he's a gentleman, just like your father!" While I mentally face palmed myself, I said "Mom, listen. I've told you this a million times. I don't want to find my mate. I'm not interested in settling down already, for crying out loud I'm only 18! I have my whole life ahead of me. Why would I want a guy who I don't even know, coming waltzing into my life and messing up all my plans!" She just laughed, she laughed! "Audrey I know that's what you say you want, but once you find your mate everything will change, and for the better!" She said, "just trust me ok?" I sighed and shrugged my shoulders "Whatever you say mom." "Alright honey, well I have to go to work but I made your favorite! Strawberry pancakes! Have a great day at school! Love you!" and with that, she was out the door and I was left by myself to get ready for school.
