A/N- To better immerse yourself in the poem, imagine you're reading this poem in front a line of people who represent society. You are speaking the poem out loud to them, as you try to convince them to listen to you. When quotations and italicized words are spoken, that is a separate, individual person from the line in front of you speaking to you. Every time new quotation marks appear around a phrase, that is a new person from the line speaking.
Humanity
How strange
Insanity
How sane
Hate
How bias
Confusion
How tious
Why not be insane?
Why not be strange?
Why must you hate?
My life's a deadweight
Love
Hate
We all seem great
But you never seem
To see us break
All you see is my unwritten fate
You see me smile
Yet I leave for a while
You want to go the extra mile
To see where I've been
To ask where I'm going
You think my life
Is one worth knowing
Accepting difference is all I ask
Seeing the thing behind the mask
Acceptance
things you need to grasp
Not with your hands but with your mind
Leaving your biased opinions behind
I am different
I am strange
So not everyone is the same
You brush past me
Pretend you don't see me
To look towards someone who is sane
Celebrities
Humanity
That girl
With my name
I'm expected to never change
"Be perfect"
"Be pretty"
"Be skinny with curves"
"Have the same face
Same hair
Same mottoes and spurs"
"But don't you be different
Or you're out of the pack
So just play our game
And act how we act"
I feel like a candle
Burning bright
But you put me down
And snuff out my light
I twist and I turn
And I quietly yearn
For someone to come
And help with this fight
But nobody comes
I'm left all alone
With my thoughts
and my demons
I suffer and groan
I reach out a hand
And ask for a knight
To protect me
And save me
From your horrid delight
You know what I say?
Screw you and your games
The truth of the matter?
We're not all the same
I'm different
I'm beautiful
Perfect and strong
-No one is listening
to the words of my song-
It's your backwards thinking
Thats why were depressed
Suicidal
Feel exiled
A fake and a mess
You preach and you spur
With how you accept
Yet I come out different
And take your words back?
Listen to me
Just for a moment
I could be right
And you all know it
Reject me
Disrespect me
Pretend I'm not here
You know what?
Fine
I'll disappear
This is my trial
This is my time
So, society
I'm saying Goodbye
