DF: Q-tips were originally named "baby gays." Then it changed to "q-tips baby gays", then shorted to q-tips (the Q standing for "quality). They were invented by Polish inventor Leo Gerstenzang getting the idea to his wife putting two cotton balls in the ends of a toothpick.
