She didn't have to got through experiments to become fear. She had to go through pain. But that's all.
The pain made her become who she is now. The emotionless girl that blocks herself from the the outside world.
She already knows that she's a freak, but she can't really accept it. That's until Professor X found her, way too many years too late to really help her.
Now all he can do is train her and persuade her to become a X-men. Cause if she isn't, then there really isn't anything for the X-Men to fight for, now is there?
