Chapter 1

"Lycia," Her fake smile and caked face turned my way "What made you stop by?"

I smiled, hoping she didnt notice how fake it was. Her lips curved and this time I could sense the fake. She stood up and was quick to ask .

"Kate.. Hun.. can I sit next to my boyfriend please."

I turned to look at Shawn but he was looking at her, and he gave me a pleading look.

"Fine."

I got up and sat next to Nash and Jack J.

"What a pleasure," Jack laughed "To be sitting next to the one and only Kate Hall." We all laughed besides Lycia who was sitting there on her brand new iphone.

"Kate, hun, your not such a prize so stop acting like it." Lycia laughed and I felt like I wanted to slap the crayola markers off her face.

"C'mon Kate, shes only joking" Shawn told me as he noticed my frown.

"You wish she was only joking." I muttered as Nash put his hand on my shoulder protectively. I knew Lycia could be mean. I knew she was selfish. But I dont know what got into her that day.

The fire had ended and we all piled into the house. I tried to follow the boys up the stairs and I was stopped by a hand.

"Kate can we talk?" Lycia's fake voice rang through my ears.

"I will be up in a few guys"

As soon as they all went up, Lycia closed the door.

"I cant believe you. I see the way you look at Shawn. Newsflash, hes mine. He loves me, so stop trying to be more than friends, because its not working,"

I couldnt believe what she was saying. A single tear rolled down my left cheek and she began to talk again.

"Its really too bad. I mean no one will ever like you. Your too ew. Maybe you should wear some makeup, because unlike me, you have no natural beauty. And go hang out with your all "friends" that all hates you, cause these guys hate you even more than them."

She stopped for a moment as I felt a sharp pain near my eye.

"Bye Kate"

Her smile seemed genuine. How could someones smile be so real after saying things like that. She walked upstairs and shut the door on me. I was all alone.

Around 10 minutes, I was curled up in the corner of the room, crying my eyes out.

"Hey guys what drinks did you want?" I hear Nash's voice coming down the stairs. The boys yelled out different orders as he opened the door.

Kate.. what.. are you alright?" He looked shocked. I brought my hands away from my face, and he came over to me.

"Kate.. did Lycia do this to you?" I shook my head 'yes' and he looked extremely mad.

"Im going to.."

I cut him off quickly "Nash you cant do anything."

"Why not?" his face was becoming red by the second. That was what I loved about Nash, he was like my older brother, extremely protective.

"She will deny it. Even though the bruise is getting purple, she will say I fell. And they will believe her."

"Kate, only Shawn will."

"Yeah.. still..."

"Cmon, lets grab some food and have a good time.. want me to tell the boys for you.. you can just stand there.. but Im telling the no matter what."

"Fine, but what about Lycia.."

"Who cares about her." I laughed and walked to the kitchen to grab the snacks.
