Chapter 9 : Eternal Seekers
~Recap~
"For Pokemon!" Yells the man.
"Power!" Yells the first lady.
"And knowledge!" The smallest yells quietly.
All at once the ground shakes and the mountains seem to cry out in shame. Revealing before us is a group we would not soon have the pleasure of forgetting.
~Back To The Present~
We all stand in silence as though they are waiting for us to react. In all truthfulness I can't move even if I wanted to. My legs are locked into place as the fear invades me. What did he mean when he said "For Pokemon!" ? Is he here to capture me already? No... maybe he doesn't know my secret as of yet. He can't know. Otherwise I fear to think of what may happen of they discover my hidden identity. So I must not use my powers. But what happens if I have to? What do I do then? I guess I will deal with that when it comes...
As the dust clears from their dramatic entrance their forms are revealed. The on the left is the male that was talking earlier. His blonde hair shimmering in the golden light that is seemingly surrounding them. The tall woman on the right is only a bit shorter than him. She tosses her hair slightly as though brushing away the stillness of the air. She has a rather curvy figure but it's not like that matters to me. I like the way I am. Good for her. The second girl which is standing in the middle of the 3 looks around at us with a cold calculating glare. She looks away quickly as though unamused by what she has before her.
"Oh don't put on such a sour face my lady Chandelure." The man says. She just glances up at him but quickly loses interest it seems. Chandelure? What's that? Is that her name or something?
He seems to notice the curious glances circling around so he clears his throat to explain.
"We are part of a group called Eternal Seekers, lovely young ladies and kid." He adds a little extra to the word 'kid' just to annoy Atlas. Atlas gives a cold glare but he just brushes it off as nothing more than a boy's tease.
"My name is Randolph." He continues. "This young woman to my right is Roselia. The young woman to my left is Chandelure. Ladies, say hello." He says with a bright smile that would dazzle anyone. Roselia makes a very over-exaggerated gesture to say hello. Chandelure on the other hand just makes a small rigid bow towards us and ignores us once more. She a little rude isn't she? Maybe she is just a little tough around the edges. The woman named Roselia moves from her position in their little formation and kneels down in front of Atlas. She takes his hand and pulls him off of Akane gently.
"Sweet boy." She chimes. "How would you like to join us instead of this little gorilla behind you?"
I don't know what is happening but Atlas shakes his head and takes a step back releasing himself from her grasp. Akane for some reason looks increasingly angry. She unsheaths her katana and raises it high above where she is on the ground and atemots to hit Roselia and Atlas. It nearly does hit her if not for Roselia's reflexs which pulls them both out of the way.
"A bit of a temper on this one wouldn't you say? My guess is that she is a Tepig, she has a firey spirit." Says Roselia.
"I will agree that her spirit is firey, but she isn't a Tepig. That is just a plain insult to her natural beauty. She is a Flareon." Randolph counters with a smirk.
"You two are both wrong." Chimes Chandelure. " She is a Fennekin. Has to be."
"The lot of you are all wrong. I'm not even a pokemon, I'm a trainer." Says Akane a little angrily.
The group seems a little shcoked but just nod to one another in agreement of some sort.
"What are the other 2 then?" Roselia asks. What do they mean? Pokemon? Trainers? It's all so confusing...
"Erm..." Atlas akwardly breaks the silence. "I am proud member of the Umbreon clan." He says proudly, too bad I have no idea what he or anyone is talking about.
"Then what are you little lady?" Randolph asks. It takes me a second to realize that he is asking me. I can't tell him, I can't tell anyone. No one must know.
'Hehe, quite the dilema you are in are in huh?' Laughs Dark. I don't understand what she finds so funny.
"Oh put a sock in it!" I say to her.
'Fiesty today aren't we? Fine, I'll give you advice. Lie.' She laughs again.
I don't have time to argue with her so I guess I will just have to take her advice no matter how much I do not want to.
"I'm sorry but frankly I do not know what any of you are talking about. Pokemon or trainers? What is that?" Everyone stares at me blankly which makes me rather uncomfortable but Roselia and Randolph start to laugh. I do not know what is so funny. At least I did not lie, yet that is... I just avoided the question with another question.
"We will be leaving for now, but we will meet again. Also, do yourselves a favor and explain everything to that girl. It will make things much easier." Randolph laugh and as quickly as they came, they vanished.
"Atlas and Akane turn to me, expressionless and silent. Finally Akane breaks the silence.
"How do you not know what trainers and Pokemon are?" She asks. "Have you been living under a rock up until now?" I suppose you could say I was. More like surrounded by rock. I can't tell her that so I remain silent in hopes she will explain.
"Ugh..." She sighs. "Fine I'll tell you. Listen closely for I'll only say it once." We all sit back by our camping area on fallen logs. Atlas seems interested as well but he seems to know what is going on. I wonder why he seems so interested in her story?
"In the world their are two types of people. Trainers and Pokemon. Back in the day humans used to ignore the Pokemon and the Pokemon ignored the humans. It didn't take long until the humans saw what great power the Pokemon had and tried to take advantage of it. The humans would capture the Pokemon and take the blood of the Pokemon and fuse it into a human. Willingly or not. And visa versa. The humans which took the blood transfusions would not last long before keeling over, but what was remarkable was the Pokemon. With DNA of the humans coursing through them, mixing with their own blood they made a Pokemon-Human hybrid. Eventually mankind managed to do so with every type of Pokemon that has ever lived. The humans that did not have the blood of Pokemon were labelled as trainers. They would capture these hybrids and use them to battle with to become strong. Still do actually. The hybrids became known as Pokemon. The hybrids bred with the same of their species and created new hybrids. And so on and so forth. Now we come back to today. We still live by this and probably always will. But there was always those more exclusive hybrids. They became known as rare Pokemon. Capturing one of then can give you a fortune. I would like to do that someday."
"Above all the other Pokemon-Hybrids one stood alone. The Pokemon now known as Meloetta. This race of Pokemon lived among the other purebred Pokemon, well, whatever was left of them anyways. Meloetta is known as a rare Pokemon, often unseen by humans for their lack of numbers and incredible powers made them desirable in the human eye. Humans eventually captured one of these Pokemon and used it's blood to make the hybrids. It's said that one human braved into their territory and tricked the Pokemon into allowing itself to be transformed. Nobody knows for sure though.
This breed of Pokemon involved itself in others affairs very little. When they did get involved you knew their was trouble. The humans finally could wait no longer and decided that they wanted to obtain that power for ,themselves. An enormous blood bath took place then. Every single Meloetta died that day. But legend has it that one survived. Nobody knows what this Pokemon looks like but it is said that it may be walking among us as we speak. People from the human council look for it ravenously but to no avail. They still haven't found it." She finishes and a silence pulls around us as we take in the new information.
I feel kind of light headed. I look up at my friends who seem alright. I don't blame them though.
"I'm going to go down by the creek nearby. I will be back soon." I say with another false smile. They smile back and say Okay. When I get down to the creek I fall to my knees. It's a good thing that they cannot see me right now. Am I really the last Meloetta? Am I really the last of my kind?
