Song: "without you"

Don't play the song until I say so!!!

---Your POV---

I walk home from the store with grocery bags in my arms. I open the door slowly and I hear my mother crying. It wasn't from physical pain... there is something in her voice. I close the door and run to her, dropping all of the groceries. She has a note, now wet from her tears. The note was from father.

I am sorry... I know that you will be able to take care of her. She is strong... like you.

-Ray

I crumple up the note and fall to the floor next to mother. I hug her tightly and we both cry there for a while. I comfort her the best that I can. I lay her on the couch with a blanket. I decide to sing to her to comfort her.

Is this what it feels like

to be lonely?

And though I'm not afraid,

I know it won't be the same

Without you

And now I'm far from home

I'm not sure where to go

Never wanted to hurt you

But you wanted to hurt me...

And then you left me in the cold

----------------------------------

So here's what it feels like

to be lonely

And though I'm not afraid

I know I will be ok

Without you

And now I'm far from home

I'm not sure where to go

Never wanted to hurt you

But you wanted to hurt me...

And then you left me in the cold

I look over at my mom and she is asleep. I kiss her forehead and walk up to my room. I lay on my bed facedown and cry for what seems like hours. My first day of school is tomorrow... I need to shape myself to be strong, like my mother. I will take care of my mother the best I can. I drift off into sleep and dream... nothing.

I wake up at four in the morning the next day. My first day of high school. I'm not excited about school at all. I just want to curl up in a ball and cry. I see a note of encouragement that my mom always leaves for me when I wake up. I smile and get out of bed. I walk into the bathroom and take a really quick shower. Once I'm done I grab a crop top and shorts with a jacket and put them on. I grab my backpack and my empty lunchbox and walk out the door. I sit on my porch looking at the sunrise as it hides the stars. I wait there for two hours before I have to leave. I grab my bike and head to school. School is only a half of a mile away, so I'm not tired when I get there. I get off my bike and park it next to the other bikes. I notice that everyone has their own groups of friends that they talk to. Since I have no friends, I go sit on the other side of the group. I see a corner that is hidden and I sit there. I start singing a song to pass the time.

The school bell rings and I get out of my hiding place. I look at the doors as they open and kids flood through. I sigh and join the crowd. This is going to be a hectic year. I can already tell...
