It had been three months since Maeve's death and Spencer still didn't know what to do.
He was now a single parent. He knew that. He knew that this was how it was going to be. And he loved his daughter more than anything in the world, he was just really stressed. Worried, too, that he wouldn't be a good father.
"Good morning, sweetheart." He said, as he did every morning, when he got Natalie to wake up. He picked her up out of her crib, gave her a kiss, and dressed her in her pink panda shirt and pink striped leggings. He put on her the pink boots Garcia had got her and brought her into the kitchen for breakfast.
Feeding her was a real struggle. Most of the time, she didn't want to eat her food and she just wanted ice cream. But Spencer knew that she had to eat good food before that, and he always knew how to get her to eat her breakfast.
Spencer put her in her high chair and gave her breakfast. He got himself and Natalie ready and dropped her off at daycare on his way to work."Bye, Nat." He said as he left her with Jenna, the daycare owner. He got into his car and drove to work.
"Ay, kid, sleep alright?" Morgan asked him when he got to the BAU. Reid sighed.
"Not last night, I didn't. I couldn't get Natalie to sleep, it was driving me insane!" Reid told him.
"Ah, well, you'll get used to it. It's what babies do, they make their parents go nuts."
Spencer sighed. "Yeah," he said, "I know. It's just..."
Morgan put his hand on Reid's shoulder. "Hard?" He asked.
Spencer nodded. "Yeah." He said, clearly on the verge of tears.
Morgan hugged him. He started to cry.
"Look, kid," Derek said, still hugging Reid. "I know it's hard, without Maeve. But if you need anything, you just ask. Ok?"
Reid nodded. "Alright."
