They've said I'm nothing. They said I'll never make it. They've looked me in the face and told me to give up. They told me that I was always going to fat and slow. Dumb, not good enough. I've heard it all. I've heard them talk about me behind my back. I've heard the rumors. The jokes. The jabs, the laughter jeered at me. And yet, in the fire, the steel of my will was purified.
I started fighting back.
No longer would I be the victim.
No longer would I let them control how I feel and think.
Yeah, I heard it all.
I heard what you said.
So what?
Through all the jokes, they didn't see the will to be better grow stronger.
They didn't see the want to be stronger grow.
All they saw was me.
Until it clicked. I had gone deaf to the voices.
All I could hear was
"Keep pressing forward."
