Entry Two 2-22-18
So there's this guy at my church who likes me. He also goes to my school. I don't really know how I feel about him as I always thought of him as a friend. I didn't even think we were that close. I always try to say hi and be nice whenever I saw him at school or at church. His name is D, by the way (how'd I forget that?).
Let me tell you where the drama begins: One Sunday, I didn't go to church because my mom was sick. On said Sunday, D's mom went up to my dad and told him that D wanted to ask me out. I heard about it because when my mom went out to take my brother to the doctor (he was sick too) she called my dad to ask about the church service. He also told her "the news." My brother then told me when they got home. I managed to keep this information from my sister up until Friday of that week, which was strange because even though she's younger than me, were practically joined at the hip and tell each other (just about) everything.
I didn't know how to take this information. At first, I was horrified because my sister and I both think that D's a little bit weird. Once in Sunday school, he honestly answered whether or not he farts in public. He said he identifies as an Oreo because "he acts like one." He's also black and PLAYS DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS. I had never heard of that until he told me he's in the D and D club. But then I thought about the relationship aspect of it. Around that time I had actually been thinking about would I actually date someone before I leave high school. My parents both had partners in high school and had a typical American high school experience (more or less). I'm also a big fan of romance. I love the ending of Grease where Kenickie still gets with Rizzo even though she's not pregnant. The Little Rascals is so cute with first graders experiencing "real love." I also liked the sitcom relationship aspect of this. Have you ever noticed that it's almost always the guy who has a crush on the girl, but he has to work up his nerve to talk to her? That was D.
