IT WAS LATE ONE evening that Lisa has caught Elphias wandering, yet sadly around the castle. Taking on board what Hermione had said just a few hours ago, she decided that trying to talk to the boy would surely be a good idea — so she did.

Lisa sighed before awkwardly creeping towards him; he was currently at a standstill, admiring the paintings plastered onto the wall, almost as if he didn't have anything better to be doing with his time. Once Lisa had arrived around a meter away from his still body, she coughed, which made the boy turn around in a little bit of fright. Realising that it was nothing more than a Ravenclaw student, he returned to glancing up at the paintings behind him.

"Don't ignore me; it's rude you know." Lisa whispered. She knew that talking any louder would have resulted in straight detention — of which would've been given to her by Mr Filtch. She heard Elphias sigh under his breath before he turned around yet again to face the rather curious Ravenclaw girl.

He folded his arms, putting on a stern face. "What do you want?" His question almost slipped passed his mouth like a hot sigh, signifying that he didn't care if he received a genuine answer or not.

"We've noticed that you've been acting different lately," Lisa admitted, curling the corner of her lips. "Just because you're a Slytherin doesn't mean we can't try to hel—"

"I don't need your help." The boy finished, now sounding slightly aggravated.

    "So something is bothering you."

That's when silence fell upon the two of them, and an awkward one at that. Elphias looked down towards the floor, shuffling his feet, while Lisa could do nothing but stare at the boy — still curious as to what was troubling him. After a few minutes, she decided that it would be best to leave and return to her dorm; it didn't look as though she'd been receiving an answer from the Slytherin boy any time soon...

"I'm sorry — It's my mother..." he suddenly spoke out, his glance still fixated on the floor.

Lisa turned back around flimsily, in utter awe that he'd answered her question.

"Sometimes she loses her temper with my sister an I; it's hard for us two to do much to stop it." He paused, before looking up and straight into the eyes of the Ravenclaw girl standing before him. "The two of us have concluded that she did so much fighting back in her youth that it's just turned into a natural reaction for her now." Elphias then took in a deep sigh.
