Marianna opened her eyes, just to close them again immediately. She had the most amazing dreams in her life. With a sigh, which sounded more like a pour of a cat, she turned to the other side and drew the sheets over her. And then her eyes flew open again. She was in Alexander’s bedroom, naked in his bed.

It wasn‘t a dream! Every single detail of the night before popped up in her mind, his hands, his lips, the pleasure they experienced again and again until she fell asleep in his arms.

Marianna brought her hand between her legs, just to discover that she was everywhere sore from last nights marathon. She wrapped herself with the sheet and tried to get up, when she saw the rose, placed on the pillow next to her. She took it in her hand and headed to the bathroom, unable to form a proper thought.

Standing in front of the mirror, she barely recognized herself. Her lips were swollen and blood red, her hair tangled, but what stunned her, was her face and her eyes. She was glowing and an enigmatic smile refused to leave her face.

She stepped into the shower and let the water sooth her aching, but perfectly satisfied  body

«Ether! The fifth element» she thought. That’s what mister Dimitris had told her.

«Ether!».

She took a towel, dried up, put a t-shirt and tights on and went again to the bedroom. The box with the colours and brushes was waiting for her and she reached out her hand caressing them.

«I will give you the sea», she said to herself and threw herself to work.

She covered the open space of the wall with confident brush strikes and the colours danced shapeless on it. But that was just the beginning. Slowly she saw the cliffs and the magnificent castle arise. Marianna took a step back. This constancy of the rock, of the castle, which gave to it’s inhabitants the sense of security, would be the only unchanging element. Everything else, the sky and the sea, would be fluid, sublime in their power and intensity.

The moment she chose to take a break, she heard her cellphone ring.

«What‘s up, English lady?» Mano’s voice brought her back to reality.

«Fine» she answered bewildered.

«Okay, any news?» he persisted, wanting to hear something more than a one word response.

«Nothing new, I work on the painting.»

«Did I catch you in a bad moment?» Manos asked.

«No, no… tell me». Marianna tried to sound indifferent.

«Well, the IRS came and we got a fine, the west wing was burned to the ground, our beautiful Elena eloped  with a fisherman and I am going to be a father.»

«This is not funny!» she answered laughing «You‘re joking, right?» she added after a few seconds of consideration.

«Of course I am! But you sound rather cryptic, something happened with Alexander?» Manos was never lost for words.

«Like what?» Marianna tried as best as she could to keep her voice even.

«Nice! I see that you have no intention to share anything with me. I accept that. I just called to say that everything is fine and that we have full house for the summer.»

«Great..» Marianna looked at the wall in front of her. « With the speed I’m working, I will be finished in a week or so» That prospect seemed suddenly not appealing at all.

«If Alexander permit‘s it.» he commented amused.

«See you, bye!» Marianna pretended to sound annoyed and hung up. As soon as the put the phone on the night table, it rang again.
