Bryn Merritt; The girl who'd give anything to be normal again.
To have her family whole again.
To not have people look at her and have pity or disgust flash across their face.
To be able to wear whatever she wants without thinking about how people will think of her.
To not have a past that haunts her every time she closes her eyes.
To have someone understand her.
Jase Sitka; The guy who'd give anything to be normal in the first place.
To have a regular relationship with his parents.
To have a sister who cares.
To not have the weight of the world on his shoulders.
To never have to look over his shoulder every time he leaves his home.
To have someone understand him.
So when these two meet, it's expected that they'll understand their each other's struggles, help each other through their problems, and from a bond stronger than anything anyone's ever seen, right?
Well, not exactly...

"You inconsiderate asshole!" I scream, tears streaming down my face. "I trusted you! You promised you wouldn't tell anyone!"
"Look, it's not my fault," he growled back at me. "Things just got out of hand. It slipped out! I didn't mean too!"
"Got out of hand?! Really?!" I reached my arm out, groping the air for anything I could get a hold of. I hit something smooth, cool, and light; a table lamp. Perfect.
I yanked it off the table, it's plug ripped from the socket. I reared my arm back, aiming for his stupid, lying face. "HOW'S THIS FOR GETTING OUT OF HAND, JASE?!"
