This short story is a forbidden romance. A young woman who committed suicide in her second home in Athens lives within the mirror she hand carved the frame of. The story takes place in our future but in the present day of a young man named Narcissus.
The main character Charlize suffered from depression and anxiety driven by her obsession with herself. This led to her suicide.
The way Narcissus acts towards his reflection mirrors how Charlize once was.
The story is meant to be unexpected. Charlize's drastic actions are meant to foreshadow what Narcissus is going through being a handsome affluent male.
The added love story and obsession was supposed to be cute!

-Narcissus (In Greek mythology, Narcissus was a hunter from Thespiae in Boeotia who was known for his beauty. He was the son of the river god Cephissus and nymph Liriope. He was proud, in that he disdained those who loved him. Nemesis noticed this behavior and attracted Narcissus to a pool, where he saw his own reflection in the water and fell in love with it, not realizing it was merely an image. Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection, Narcissus lost his will to live. He stared at his reflection until he died.
