He had written his anwer with a red pen above his first message, making every word pretty small because there wasn't a lot of space left on the little note he had used. His handwriting was quite hard to read in the first place, but because he had written so small to make everything fit, it took me quite a while to figure out what he wrote down. The fact that my hands were shaking since the moment I saw he wrote an answer didn't really help either. After a minute or two, I finally figured out what he wanted to say:
Hi Girl With Ginger Hair and a Blue Leather Jacket,
I didn't expect an answer at all! So nice to see you actually care about who brought you back your umbrella ;)
I'd love to catch up sometime, although the day you had left your stuff in the bus was the only time I've ever seen you. I'm always late for school, but that day, I was extremely late, because I'd missed my bus. Anyways, I have testweek this week, but let's meet on monday next week, 5pm, your busstop? I do expect an answer now, but on a new note if that's possible because there's no space left;P
Ciao!
After I read his answer, I catch myself smiling and blushing and I wondered why I like this mysterious guy this much, although I don't know anything about him. I decide to take the note with me and open my bag to get out my diary. I rip out today's page and realise my homework is on it, and then I decide to not do my homework because I need this note. After a lot of chewing on my pencil, thinking and waiting, this is what I write down
'Perfect! I'll meet you here! C U later :)'
I stick the page to the wall of the busstop with some tape and see the bus coming. I greet the busdriver, buy a ticket and sit down on a seat in the back of the bus, next to an old lady who's always smiling. Sometimes, she tells me stories about her childhood and her children and I tell her about my school and what I want to do when I grow up. Not that I know what I want to do when I grow up, I tell her every time, but I think she's getting a bit demented. She always tells me the same stories, but as she always looks happier when she gets out of the bus after she talked to me, I give her five minutes of my time whenever I spot her, just to see her smile.
When the bus stops just before my house, I get out and walk towards my door. When I'm about to get out my keys, someone loudly screams: 'JAMIE!' in my ear and I can't help a high pitched scream escapes out of my throat. It's Ally, who's smiling at me and starts to talk with a happy voice. 'Hi babe! I've got a surprise for you! Me, you, Josh & Harry are going to a party tonight! Oh and before you start complaining about homework, your mom just gave me your books so I'll do it. I'll pick you up at eight! See you later girl! Oh, and you better wear something nice because I've heard Harry's friends are pretty hot. Ciao!' She says, and she leaves, this all happening in about 50 seconds. I'm pretty sure she and my mom planned this out a while ago, as well as her leaving as fast as she can, so I wouldn't have time to bring up any excuse to stay home tonight. My mom really likes Ally and she always tells me I should go out more often, which I find pretty strange because it's the other way around in most family's. I really don't feel like going to a party. I like to hang out with my small group of friends, but I'm not a person who easily socializes.
But, as there's no way back, I open the door to my house and walk straight to the living room. My older sister Kaylee is listening to one of her favorite metalbands and my older brother Jim is sitting next to her, reading a book. They're twins, but I still don't believe it because they are the exact opposite of each other. Kaylee likes metalbands, wears black clothes and a lot of make up. She's kind of rebelious, never does what people tell her to do and she likes singing, drumming and going out a lot. Jim on the other hand could be considered as a geeky person: he likes books, he's the smartest person I've met in my entire life, he's a pretty shy and quiet guy and is extremely interested in science.
And then there's me, the younger sister. I'm more of a mix between Kaylee and Jim, but with 80 percent Jim's features and 20 percent Kaylee's features. I like music a lot, but not metal. I do not always do what people tell me to do, but then again, I'm not the 'you can say whatever you want but I don't give a sh*t so f*ck off now' kind of person like Kaylee. I'm not supersmart, but I do manage to get good grades and make it through every year of school without any troubles, somehow.
The only way you can easily tell we're siblings is because of our looks. All three of us have ginger hair, dark brown eyes, quite big noses, we're pretty short and, let's be honest, not the prettiest. We all look exactly like our dad, who has the same outer features.
When I walk in, Kaylee gets up to hug me and Jim says "Hi" while he doesn't lift his eyes up from his book. My mom gives me a kiss on my cheeck and my dad rubs my back.
"So.. you're going out tonight?" Kaylee chuckles.
"Yes! She is going out!" my mom nervously laughs, trying to hide her excitement. "Honey, I know you prefer staying at home, but I just want you to have fun and enjoy your teenage years and..."
"Mom! It's okay, I'll go to that stupid party.. Ally's taken my homework so I guess I'll just go with it for once."
"I tried to stop them, but... yeah..." my dad says. My dad and I are pretty close and I know he'll always stand up for me in times like this, but there isn't anything he can do now.
"It's okay dad. Jim, if you explain maths to me, I won't have a problem with tomorrow's test..."
After Jim's helped me with my maths, I have an hour left before I have to go. I walk upstairs to go to my room, turn the light on and look around. My room is pretty small and cozy. There's a kingsize bed in the corner against the left wall and the big window that covers most of the wall in the back of the room. Next to my bed are two guitars and a small drumkit. Two big white closet's are placed against the wall on the right: One for my clothes, another one for all the other stuff. Instead of a real light bulb, I've placed colorful christmaslights in my room, which makes my room look dim and cozy. Next to my door is a huge darkblue stereo, which I use almost every hour of the day. The whole room is full of posters of my favorite artists and posters with inspirational quotes, which I have sticked against the wall. And this is where I spend most of my time.
I open the closet with my clothes and my eyes slowly move from the left to the right, and back. I decide to wear a black tight dress and black heels. I twine my hair in a long braid and put some mascara, lipgloss and foundation on. After I have finshed my makeup, my mom walks into my room.
'Hi Mom' I say smiling
'Hi honey, I just wanted to say I'm sorry.. maybe I should stop forcing you to go to parties and stuff.. I would have loved doing those kind of things when I was your age, but if you don't... well... You look beautiful' she sighs.
'Thanks mom' I say and before my mom can say anything else, the doorbell rings and I open my window and scream: 'I'm coming!' to Ally and Harry.
It's party time, and for once, I will party.
