Cohort: A group of people with something in common

{===}

The only two things in life, other than truth potion, that can truly be relied upon not to lie are yoga pants and accidental selfies. As Sirius Black was none of these things, Alex took the liberty of doubting every vowel that emerged from his mouth. However, those vowels were currently orchestrating themselves into an order that prophesised ill fate for Logan so she was willing to make a pass on that particular rule just this once.

"Where is he?" Alex asked through her teeth as she stormed down the Gryffindor Tower.

Sirius, who had been joined by Remus and James upon their exit of the portrait hole, exchanged looks with his friends.

"We were kind of hoping you could tell us that." Remus told her, none too reassuringly.

Alex stopped her aggressive stomp-attack on the innocent Hogwarts stairs to stare at them incredulously for a moment, "You were hoping..." She shook her head, "Right. I'm giving you three guesses in a new game I like to call I Spy: Spot the Idiot. Me and Logan aren't exactly BFFs at the moment."

James grinned, "I like her."

"Logan was sick after the holidays." Remus rolled his eyes at his friend, "He stayed home from school for a while. We knew the dude, but... Not well enough to have his home address on stand by."

Alex shifted on her feet, "Which is where I come in."

"Exactly." Sirius pointed his finger at her. He seemed far too enthusiastic about the whole thing. Alex narrowed her eyes in return, more lingering stubbornness about being forced to do the 'hero' deal with the infamous prat of Grimmauld Place than actual distaste with his choice of gestures.

"So, what?" Alex raised her eyebrows, "You want to take an Uber?"

The other boys looked at Sirius, who grinned and quirked an eyebrow. Alex sighed. A plan that remained contingent on Sirius flipping fucking asshat Black. This was not on Alex's bucket list.

"Bloody hell." She muttered.

Sirius' grin widened, "Language."

"Padfoot's family have always had certain," Remus pulled a face, "Privileges."

Alex nodded, understanding flooding through her face, lowering her estimation of Sirius even more somehow, "And I'm going to assume that one of those privileges is underage apparition?"

"Alas my family has made many mistakes." Sirius flourished a hand, "But paying off the ministry to allow anyone with Black blood in their veins to apparate anytime, anywhere is one of the ones I'm willing to exploit."

She smiled at him sweetly, "And just when I thought you lot couldn't possibly get anymore... I can't think of the right adjective right now, but it'll come to me."

"I'll wait with baited breath." Sirius gave her a crooked smile.

Remus sighed, "If you could stop flirting with the werewolf for one second, Padfoot. We can save our friend."

Sirius just shrugged, and started an enthused half-jog down the stairs. Rolling her eyes at James' wide grin and Remus' knowing smile, Alex followed him.

Half an hour later, they had assembled at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. James had clambered a nearby tree and was scanning the Hogwarts Grounds with pirate-lookout levels of dedication. Remus was tracing a path up and down in front of the stable old oak, Sirius following behind him, scratching his chin in an over exaggerated imitation of his friend and winking at Alex whenever he thought she might be looking.
