So I'm trying to think of a possible cast for this story. Coming up blank...smh. Anyway, got any suggestions? Shoot em at me! Ok, I'll stop talking now so you can read the story.

Monday came all too soon. In the three days that I have been home, I've spent most of my time with Parker while he ignored a multitude of calls and text from his friends. I felt pretty guilty keeping him away from them, but he said it was his choice and that he would see them soon enough. I guess that I would be, too. It was 7:30 and I was standing in front of the mirror in my closet, frowning at my uniform. Ok, it's not that it is necessarily ugly. Actually, compared to a lot of uniforms I've seen, this was about a 9. The black and red plaid skirt was pretty nun-ish when we bought it, so I had it hemmed to a more comfortable length. My freshly bleached shirt was ironed to perfection and fit me snuggly. I put on the black sweater with the school crest placed proudly over my chest, opted not to wear the horrendous tie, and took one last glance in the mirror.

        "Blair!"

"In here." I replied. I walked out my closet just in time to see my step-sister, Luella, peek her head through the door.

"Oh, um, Parker is waiting for you downstairs." she said shyly. Her voice was so soft I almost had her repeat herself.

        "Okay. Thanks for telling me."

"And I wanted to say I hope you have a good first day. I know it can be hard being the new kid."

I smiled at her. "Thanks. Again. That means a lot, Luella." She was definitely growing on me. Unlike her mother and sister, she had welcomed me with open arms and tried her best to make me feel like I belonged here. Her quiet and reserved nature was a breath of fresh air compared to everyone else here.

"No problem, And I told you to call me Lu."

I nodded my response and grabbed my messenger bag so we could head down together. In the kitchen, Parker was seated at the island, texting someone with a little too much passion, and Rose was just throwing away her apple core. She glared in my direction and took a seat next to parker. A car horn honked from outside and Lu said a quick goodbye and left. My dad walked in, disposed of his cup of coffee, and was soon out the door also, leaving the three of us in a slightly uncomfortable silence.

"This is awkward." I mumbled more to myself

"Are we going to leave or not? I have a student government meeting in twenty minutes and I don't plan on being late." Rose asked Parker, completely ignoring me.

He type a few words on his phone and slipped it into his pocket. "What's wrong with your car?"

"It's in the shop. Someone hit me in the parking lot this weekend and trashed my bumper, so it looks like I'm going to be with you for a few days. "Thanks for telling me ahead of time." He replied sarcastically. "Just give me a second to put some of my gear in the garage."The ride to school was similar to the kitchen situation. No one said anything so Parker turned his music up, as if the melody would bridge the communication gap between the three of us. Sitting in the back seat was a bad idea, because every time I looked up, all I saw was Rose glaring at me with more passion than a telenovela. What was her deal? I just met the girl and every time we come within fifteen feet of each other, I can feel the hate radiating off of her. I let out a sigh of relief when the intricately embellished gates came into view bearing King's College Preparatory in large gold letters. The parking lot was just as I imagined an institution attended by some of the nation's wealthiest families. Fancy cars, designer accessories, and overly inflated egos. Some faces looked vaguely familiar from garden parties and charity balls of the past. My mother used to tell me that these were my competition; my enemies that I had to befriend if I was to become someone in the future. She would then heavy-handedly pat down nonexistent frizzy strands of my hair, take a swing from the flask she kept in her clutch at all times, and walk away a little off balanced.
