A/N:  Thanks to @KatieGuinn for the title! (I'm not fond of egg rolls, though. xD)

"Someone's extra cheery today," your best mate Talia remarks when she comes into the staff room in the morning to find you grinning and humming something Disney. "What's the occasion?"

"No occasion," you reply mid-song, "I'm just in an exceptional mood."

You aren't exactly lying, you point out to yourself; you're just leaving bits out. You can't exactly tell her your reason for being a veritable ray of sunshine is that only two days, seven hours, and nineteen minutes ago you were lip-to-lip with the human embodiment of perfection, now, can you?

Talia makes a curious little humming noise. She knows something's up, but surprisingly doesn't bring that knowledge to the surface. "Hmm. Well, I'm glad you're happy."

"Thanks, Tali."

Later, while the pair of you are putting out the new releases, the subject arises again.

"Does your joy have anything to do with that bloke you came to me about last week?" Talia asks.

You'd forgotten that you spoke to her about that. "It may," you respond, focusing a bit too hard on aligning the spines of the books you're shelving.

She gasps. "It does, I knew it! Oh, you have to tell me everything!"

Your stomach jumps. "Everything?"

"Yeah, 'course, every detail! My best mate finally has some type of romantic activity in her life, I want to know about every bloody second!"

You sigh, silently praying that she'll settle for the abridged version.

To:  Tom

I think Talia may be on to us.

From:  Tom

How so?

To: Tom

She refuses to accept my good mood as simply a good mood.

From: Tom

Well, it is Monday - pleasant moods aren't exactly customary.

To: Tom

True, but highly unlikely. She knows me better than I know me, Tom. And she demands an explanation!

From: Tom

Maybe she'll forget about it.

To: Tom

Oh, you don't know Tali.

From: Tom

In that case, tell her only what you're comfortable sharing.

To: Tom

Or just tell her to piss off.

From: Tom

Please, don't just tell her to piss off.

Just like you knew she would, Talia corners you at shift's end. "All right, now that you have nowhere to hide," she says in a rather villainous tone, "and no excuse not to, I command you to tell me in excruciating detail why you are so damn chipper!"
