Selene

The first thing I heard when my consciousness was coming back to me was a constant beeping that refused to lower in pitch, causing me to let out a small groan. I struggled to open my eyes, and it took every little bit of force I had to do so. The first thing I was met with was a light that was so blinding that I had to cover my eyes with my heavy arms and emitted a groan, louder than the first.

I uncovered my eyes and looked around space, seeing it was a sterile, empty, hospital room. On my right side was a heart monitor, along with the patients table, that held my charts instead of the place at the end of my bed.

I grabbed it and flipped up the first page, looking at the different comments and information they had written down. I saw my room number was one of the ones that Melissa works, so I pressed a nurse button, grabbed my X-ray, and held it up to the light to get a better view.

"Hey sweetie, how's your head feeling?" I heard the calm voice of Melissa float through my ears, making me smile as I continued to survey the X-ray.

"Fine, just planning out how to murder Stiles while bringing him the most amount of pain possible." I say calmly and set down the scan, looking at her fully, and she laughs.

"You gave us quite a scare, you were supposed to wake up 3 days ago." She comments as she walks up to the bad and turns off the nurses call button. She grabs my file and puts the scan back, writing something down before placing it back where it as supposed to go.

"Three days?!" I exclaim, and raise my eyebrows at her. "What day is it?" I ask, and she smiles sympathetically.

"Friday! But good news is, you missed the first week of school." She giggles at her own humor. "The first week is always the worst."

"I know, doesn't mean I wanted to miss it any less." I say dejectedly. "Can I get out of here?" I ask, sounding a lot like a little girl, which made me cringe.

"Sure honey, let me go get the papers." She said, then swiftly left the room.

*************

Melissa had gotten me released within the hour, and it was not too late after that I had gotten a cab home. I knew Lydia was having her back to school bash tonight, and I knew it was going to be hell for me from her if I didn't show up.

So with that in mind I cleaned up with a warm shower and put on some clothes that Lydia would at least approve of. I moved my heavy, wet hair to the side and clasped the necklace Scott had given me when we first started dating around my neck, letting it rest in the middle of my chest.

I had grabbed the keys to my black jeep, which was only a year younger than Stiles', and jogged out to my car, my destination, the intensive care unit of the hospital.

I needed to see Peter. To explain myself to him. To let him know that I'm still there.

I had first met Peter on a trip for the school's medical program. We were each assigned patients, and I had gotten Peter. It was only a year's assignment, and all we were supposed to do was monitor their activity, see what had caused them to be in there, and how their progress was.

After the year was over, I had just grown attached to him. Him and his niece and nephew, Laura and Derek, who were my closet BFF's. I smiled at the memories I've had with the duo, mostly Derek. We were good friends, me being there to listen when he needed me, and a shoulder to lean on for support, and he offered the same back.

Jennifer had said that whenever I visit Peter, he gets a gleam in his eyes, that she can only relate to happiness. There was some connection I had with those Hale's, and it was hard for me to leave them alone.
