The Life of an Unsocial Teen

     Everyday I walk this earth is another day spent wondering. Wondering what could have been. What would have happened if my parents had gotten me into a sport when I was young? Would I have had more friends, or not have gained as much weight? What if I had talked to that girl next door, who was exactly my age. We could have become best friends. We could have had one of those friendships where your families are almost as close as you are.

     But none of that happened. Instead, my dad took my sister and I out to Burger Kings, on nights in which other kids were out, kicking around a ball. They were forming lasting friendships and enviable bodies while we were stuffing ourselves.

     I sat at home reading and watching TV, while my peers had play-dates and made memories. Books became my friends, the only things that were really my own and didn't mind my total loserness.

I sat idly by, reading and eating, until middle school. Middle school changed everything.
