Chapter 2
His accent was not the stereotypical Australian accent, it was different. His personality seemed to come through in his accent. His tone suggested he was a kind and happy person. I stood there like an idiot mesmerized by him, everything about him seemed perfect.
I must've been staring because he started to giggle. I snapped back into focus at the sound of his laugh. His giggle was childish, yet I found it attractive. He ran his hands through his hair and looked directly at me.
He smiled, "Would you like to go sit down?".
I nodded, "Yeah, that'd be great".

Wow, she really was beautiful. As we walked over to the bench, the breeze blew through her hair. Her hair was a dark brown color that was broken apart by the softer colors in the sunlight. She had been staring at me, as if she'd been attracted to me, was she? I was pleased at the thought of someone as beautiful as her liking me and found myself mesmerized by her beauty as we sat down.
We had been talking about the basics like weather and family, when she asked about my life back home.
"What was your life like in Australia?" She asked.
I told her what Australia was like. The weather was perfect, most of the people were really nice, and the culture was beautiful.
"Do you miss your friends?" She wondered aloud.
I paused. "Yeah. Well the friends I did have, I wasn't like a super popular kid or anything in school".
"Oh well I think you'll fit in nicely here", she offered.

He smiled at my comment. He playfully nudged me, "Well at least I'll be starting school with one friend".
I smirked, I genuinely think he was flirting with me. "At least you have me", I joked.
In a few minutes the burgers were done and we were called over to the grill.
Anne made a quick speech, "Hello! I just want to thank you all for coming over tonight and being so warm and welcome. We are so glad that we moved into such a beautiful neighborhood with such beautiful people"
I swear Ashton's eyes darted to me when his mom said 'beautiful people' but I can't say for sure.
She continued, "You are all such wonderful people. Thank you for the lovely gifts and help yourself to some burgers!"
She seemed like such a sweet lady.
Ashton and I walked over to the table with burgers and helped ourselves. I asked if he wanted to go back to the bench.
"Would you mind sitting on the porch with me?" He responded.
"I'd love that."
He led me around the house to the porch. On the porch was a porch swing, painted white. Ashton plopped down and patted the empty space next to him, motioning for me to join him. I sat with my legs crossed, plate on my lap, and drew in a long breath. For some reason being around him made me nervous, like the kind of nervous a kid gets near their crush. But of course I couldn't say I had a crush on Ashton, I'd only met him an hour earlier.
He broke the silence, "What kind of music do you like?".
"I like Blink182 a lot but I'm open to most genres", I answered.
