It was 8 o'clock in the morning the Saturday after New Years, and Melody was asleep when she heard her phone vibrating on the night stand.

The Vivacious Venus:
Good morning sweets!

The Mellow Mel:
V, it's too early.

The Vivacious Venus:
But I want to ask you something :(

The Mellow Mel:
What is it?

The Vivacious Venus:
Do you want to go sledding behind my house later? It's really private back there and my neighbors can't see! It can be like a first date I guess.

The Mellow Mel:
Yes! I would love to. What time should I come over?

The Vivacious Venus:
Noon good for you?

The Mellow Mel:
Perfect. See you later babe!

The Mellow Mel:
Oops I did it again. I keep saying babe. Oh lord.

The Vivacious Venus:
AW that's so cute. Love ya babe! ;)

The Mellow Mel:
Yikes what have I started.

By 11:30 Melody was getting ready to head out to Venus' house. It's about a ten minute walk so she was planning on leaving by no later than 11:50. She threw her hair up into a ponytail and put her contacts in. She's not one for excessive makeup, no one to impress other than Venus. Thing is, Venus likes her no matter how she looks. Melody feels so comfortable with her, and she's glad it's that way.

At 11:45 Melody went downstairs to go to the kitchen and grab a quick snack. While she was grabbing a granola bar from the cupboard, someone walked into the kitchen behind her.

"Hey where are you going?"

"Hi mom and I'm going to Venus' house," she said with her back still to where her mother stood.

"Again? You have gone over everyday after school since break ended," responded her mother in a wary tone. The way she said it sounded weird, but Melody had chosen to ignore it.

"We are just hanging out, I'll be back in a few hours"

"Well alright then, and here's your phone you left it on the bathroom counter upstairs" she reluctantly handed her phone over, which Melody took with a confused look. "And by the way can we talk later? I need to ask you about something".

"Uh sure, oh would you look at the time I gotta go! Bye mom!" And with that Melody ran out of the house.

"Wonder what that was about," said Venus. Melody had just arrived at Venus' house and they were putting on their snow boots.

"I know, she seemed really weird. Like she knew some-" she stopped.

"What's wrong?"

"Oh my god did you text me before I got here?" Melody quickly opened her phone.

"Uh yeah I think so why?"

"Oh no. No no no no no!" Whispered Melody to herself.

The Vivacious Venus:
Hey babe. Lol I can say it too. You still coming over at 12? I'm really looking forward to our date!

"She must've read your text! Because it says I opened it and I surely did not. This is why she was acting so strange!" Melody put her head in her hands "now what do I do? How do I explain that!"
