Time does not heal.My eyes gently open to Riley shaking me. I cannot hear what she's saying. All I can see is her intense expression and her tears falling onto my glasses.
I can't process what's happening but I can feel myself being yanked up by Riley, her soft hands clutching my shoulders.Brooklyn lay on the hospital bed in front of me and I smiled weakly.
She smiled back and tried to jump and hug me but they held her down.
Riley walked to the doctors to discuss Brooklyn's injuries.
I blinked slowly and opened my mouth, but there was nothing to say. There was nothing I could do to make this better.
I felt my chest tightening and my head become heavy.
"I can't-" I began, running out of Brooklyn's room, tears rushing down my face. No matter how much I tried to stop them or dry them they came back.
I- I- I-
I can't do this anymore.Brooklyn's going to die, and I'm going to be alone forever. I'm going to be alone... I'm going to-
There's nothing I can do.
History repeats itself, right?
Well I will not bear to live another minute when my life will just repeat, repeat.
I felt a hand on my back
I turned and saw Riley.
"You should talk to Brooklyn." She said softly. I nodded and walked back into the room.I saw her gentle, pale, sickly face...
I finally saw her.
I took her for granted and I-"I love you." I heard her say.
"W-what?" I mumbled, my voice raspy.
"I wanted to say that- I want you to know that I love you as more than a friend." Brooklyn said with a weak smile on her lips.
I breathed heavily.IloveyoutooIloveyoutooIloveyoutoo
"I don't feel the same way. It's not- it's not like that." I said harshly.
I will never love again.
