Joining the Crew, Making Friends

A couple days later, I dial Vivian's number and soon, I hear that beautiful voice. "Hi."

I smile to myself. "Hi, Vivian. I can't wait for the next show." I tell him.

"How about you come join our crew?" he asks.

"Seriously? I'll do it." I grin.

"See you at the PPL Center in Allentown on Saturday!" Vivian says cheerfully.

Three days later, I wake up and get ready to go be a roadie for Def Leppard. When I arrive at the PPL Center in Allentown, I run inside and help the other roadies set up the band's gear for their soundcheck. On stage from left to right, it's Vivian, Sav, Joe, Rick behind him, Sav's other mike, and Phil on the other side. Vivian looks over at me and when he sees I'm there, he comes over.

"Hey Ori," he smiles.

"Hi Vivian," I reply shyly.

"You know you can just call me Viv," he winks as his tech Dave, who everyone calls Wolfie, hands him a guitar.

Viv then joins his bandmates for the soundcheck.

"So you're the one Viv wouldn't stop talking about," Wolfie says, looking at me.

"I guess so," I respond, shrugging.

After Def Leppard finishes their soundcheck, Viv comes over and hands Wolfie his guitar.

"Hey, Ori, me and the guys are gonna go out to eat. Wanna join us?" I glance beyond Viv at Joe, Sav, Phil, and Rick.

"Sure," I smile.

Viv puts his arm around my shoulder and the six of us head to a place to eat. At the diner, Joe looks over at me. "Hey Ori, what's your favorite Def Leppard song?"

I glance around at the guys. "There's so many, but if I had to pick one song, I'd have to go with Stand Up (Kick Love into Motion). Honestly, when I first heard it, I didn't really like it, but then it kinda grew on me." Phil chuckles. "Well, I'm glad you like it, Ori."

After we finish lunch, Joe, Sav, and Rick head back.

"We'll meet you guys there. Ori wanted to go to the guitar shop." Phil tells them.

Then he, Viv, and I head to a guitar store a couple blocks away. As soon as the three of us enter, I see former Skid Row guitarist Dave Sabo and George Lynch, who was in Dokken. I look at my outfit and realize I'm wearing my Skid Row shirt. I also notice I have on my Converse high tops with red, black, and orange splotches and the Dokken logo on them. Viv and I go over to where the Les Pauls are and play Skid Row's "Youth Gone Wild" to a track Viv has on his phone that has everything but the guitars. Dave Sabo comes over and talks to us.

"Hi," I say nervously.

"Are you Ori?" he asks.

"Yeah, why?" I wonder, trying not to laugh.

"Don't tell anyone this, but the original Skid Row lineup is going to get back together to record an album and do a tour in support of it. But I'm the only guitarist left from the original lineup." Dave smiles.

I glance at Viv, then over at Phil. They both nod and give me the 'go for it' look. "Sure, I'd love to join you guys. I've been a Skid Row fan for as long as I can remember." I grin.
