Another Jaxel fic!! This is a colab with @MrSoundlessVoice They wrote everything with the * in front of it! Enjoyyyy~

Jael took a step out of the door of Retention, and sucked in the cool night air. It was always so refreshing to get out of there; insane and violent patients weren't always the best company. And listening to their thoughts was sometimes unnerving.

He wiped his face with his sleeve, trying to let the memory of the night leave his head, when he accidentally elbowed something—

"OI."

—or someone.

*"OW— Jael, that HURT." Harlo frowned as he rubbed his side. Jael ignored him and focused on the arm slung around Harlo's shoulder. It was almost covered to the elbow in bracelets, a mixture of leather, braided, new, though most were old and battered.

"Ah, it's Jael." Axel scanned the building infront of him. He grinned, "So this is where you work, huh?"

"S-sorry, Harlo," Jael mumbled, distractedly. "Yeah, Retention." He looked back at the old building and smiled dejectedly. "Pretty welcoming ain't it."

He sighed, turning to Harlo. "And why aren't YOU at work? Or are you just about to start your shift?"

*Harlo rubbed the back of his neck, "Y-Yeah, ha.. ha, sure... start my shift.... right after I give Axel a tour."

"W- Why are you giving me a tour again, Harly? How'd I even end up here?" Axel raised a pierced eyebrow. Harlo paused.

"I- I don't know. It just kinda... it just kinda happened."

Axel coughed, "On another note," he scanned the building infront of him. "I think we should paint this place pink. A really nice pastel pink."

Jael scrutinized Harlo's awkwardness but said nothing, slowly tearing his gaze away from him and looking to Axe.

"Pastel pink. Yeah. I'm sure all of the blood thirsty demons would appreciate that." He stuffed his hands into his pockets. "You've never been to retention before, huh?"

*Axel shook his head.

"Nah, visiting the home of a bunch of blood thirsty demons who don't like pastel colours never really crossed my mind." He shrugged. "I came here cause I'm donating blood, though."

Jael raised his eyebrows. "Is that today? No fucking wonder. They're all really pissed off in there. I was wondering what was making them so agitated." He sighed. "No one ever tells me these things."

Jael stretched, suddenly not so tired anymore. "I could show you the way if you'd like? Harl, your shift starts like...oh, it's started."

*"Yeah," Axel shrugged, "Heard you were running low on AB and thought I'd chip in."

Harlo blinked and looked at his wrist. "Wait, what? Shit, is my watch broken? Damn it." He looked at Axel, "I, uh... I fucked up. Take care of him, Jael!" He yelled as he ran to his post. "If something happens to him, Lyra and Nekota will wring my neck!"

"And we wouldn't want that, would we?" Axel mumbled with a snort. He then turned to Jael with a grin after fixing his lip piercing.

"Lead the way, Scarlet."

Jael bristled. "Sc—Scarlet?! What do you mean Scarlet?!" The smirk on Axel's face made him grit his teeth and turn back to the Retention building. "Never mind. Man, I forgot just how irritating you are."

Axel chuckled. "Irritating? But I'm so gosh darn lovable!"

"Just don't die here, okay? Or Harl will kill me."
