The African woman is lightning
That strikes once twice thrice
A never ending shine
That glows not from love of self
But those who she holds as the reason for her breath
Those that owe her their breath
The bridge between life and time
I can never say thank you
And feel like it compensates
For her devotion rate
Years of work thank you
I never had a father
but the African Woman stands tall no matter
the weight of four shoulders when she only has two
Thank you mother is all i can say
while i pray that one day i can make you feel special
Putting your lessons
in every step i take
And if i fall i just borrow a page from your book and retake
Once twice as many times just to win my race
As you cheer me on
I hope to bring cheer to you no matter how great the storm
Thank you mother because i exist
Convinced that the African woman is not human nor myth
It is you the greatest example of it
