Hermione's spirits dropped.

There was no way she would be sharing a dorm with Draco Malfoy. Ever. Regardless of his status in the war. It seemed he was having the same thoughts about her because the two started protesting at the same time. And protest they did, but McGonagall had her mind made up.

"It's what Dumbledore wanted. House Unity" she said quietly.
Hermione's eyes started tearing up at the mention of his name, and she quietly nodded her agreement. Though Malfoy remained nonchalant, McGonagall lead us to our shared common room.

Hermione's jaw dropped as they opened the door.
"As I'm sure you have noticed, there are 4 bedrooms meaning, if you wish you may each have one guest stay with you. You each have a house-elf but any guests will not. If you have any issues with these conditions, apart from the two of you sharing a dormitory" she silenced the both of them with a look "please feel free to contact me. Let me know who you would like to stay with you, if you would like to have someone join you."

"Oh and the two of you need to decide upon a password. Miss Granger I will trust you with owling me what the two fo you decide upon"

Turning to Malfoy, Hermione asked curtly "Do you want to have a look around first or discuss a password?"

"Look around" he answered dismissively. As he walked away Hermione could have sworn she heard him mutter under his breath, "so I don't have to be near you".

Rolling her eyes, she headed towards her side of the common room. If he wanted to hurt her feelings he really needed to try harder than that. Honestly, after all that she'd been through did he really think that was going to hurt.
