It's freezing.

Samantha's only train of thought as she watched the empty street before her come alive in the icy wind as she waited for Jimin to arrive.  He was already five minutes late and Sam weakly held on to her resolve to spend more time with the hurting boy. No, man. A blush rose on her cheeks as she recalled the tensing and stretching of his back muscles as he wore his shirt the other day in the locker room.

The rumbling of an engine drew her out of her thoughts, and she watched in awe as the coolest car she had ever seen parked in front of her. It's was shiny black and intimidating, she was afraid to touch it.  The window infront of her rolled down, revealing a rosy-cheeked smiling Jimin beckoning her to get in quick because it was freezing.

"Shotgun, "

"You're the only one here" Jimin giggled once she had settled into the leather seat. "Put your seatbelt on- here.  Let me get it for you"

She held her breath as he casually reached across towards her to secure her seat belt, his face a hair's breadth away from hers. When he finally backed away she took a greedy inhale of his heavenly cologne. Jesus. He started the car, pulling away from the curb as he spoke.

"The agenda for today is to get you some outfits which you'll be comfortable in but at the same time look drop dead gorgeous," he smiled as he glanced at her, " are you ready for your EXTREME MAKE OVER?"

"Yessir,"

"Come on. A little more enthusiasm won't kill you, "

Sam giggled as she watched him, and for the first time she felt at ease in someone's presence. Jimin had such a calming aura around him, Sam knew this was the reason she had been able to bond with him way too easily, even managing to bridge the age gap between them.

They drove in silence, Jimin found the radio too distracting; but the silence was comfortable, sometimes broken with a question here and there about school work and family which she didn't mind. She found that she had come to trust him more and more with their frequent interactions. She answered with ease, until he broached the forbidden topic.

"So... How's it going with Tae? " Jimin asked his voice casual though he tightened his grip on the steering wheel.

Sam cringed inwardly, Taehyung was a sore topic ever since her little meltdown at the sleepover they had planned. She tried to use her words but they died on her lips, succeeding only in opening and closing her mouth. After which, she resorted to staying silent. Jimin sighed glancing at her with worry in his eyes before steeling himself to focus on the road.  He didn't speak again the whole ride.

"What about this one? " Jimin asked as he held the black turtle neck sweater against Sam's body.  He made a noise of satisfaction before adding the item to the pile of clothing in Sam's hands.

Sam sighed. Shopping for new clothes had already lost its charm by the time. Jimin had managed to put together the second outfit. Her patience was wearing thin.  She felt embarrassed every time Jimin had to return a top to the rack because it didn't come in a larger size or didn't stretch. And the worst was the jeans.  Ohmygosh. Fitting for jeans was a nightmare, having to try and squeeze her thighs into tiny spaces only made her feel worse about herself. And it was absolutely mortifying to let Jimin know that the button wouldn't close or the zipper wouldn't go up. She couldn't not,  for the life of her, understand why he was still going at it with a smile on his face.

Samantha watched him as he continued to look through clothes on the rack, his brows furrowing before he moved on. At least during the time they had spent looking for clothes she'd managed to note a few things she hadn't noticed before; like how the arch of his nose had a little bump,  or a scar underneath his right eye that was barely visible under his foundation. How his eyes lit up when he realized that he'd been successful in picking another outfit for her;  and as she watched him she realized what a sweetheart he was, taking time out of his day to fix her train wreck of a wardrobe. This was her friend.

Friend.

It felt strange to admit that she had formed a connection with someone; even stranger to think that out of all the people in Hadwick this person had chosen her. This person, aware of her physical and emotional flaws had chosen to be her friend.

Samantha didn't hear Jimin talking,  too focused on her thoughts until he took the bundle away from her.

"Pay attention," he gave her a small smile, "Namjoon is going to join us for lunch. I hope you don't mind,"

"No,  that's okay, " she nodded fully aware that she was lying through her teeth.

"Okay... Let's go pay for these. "
