'RUN! Run Rach Run!' Natalie shouted. She was panting heavily as she ran into the island. There was an eerie silence. . I was all alone, helpless, lost and bruised. I was trying not to breathe hard as it was too horrifyingly scary to act in any way. I could take a step neither forward nor backward. I had to stand still trying not to quiver. The bushy tree was my only hope. All I could hear was my breath, rustling leaves, wolves crying from a long distance and crickets. It was my worst nightmares come true. I sat on the wet ground exhausted. I closed my eyes and waited.

We all were excited to be going on a trip to New York City after a long wait. The wish from 10th grade was finally going to come true after 10 years. It surely wasn't easy to get acceptance from our parents but they somehow did so as it was one of our dreams. We a group of 13 namely Rachel myself, Mia, Natalie, Charlie, Siena, Liam, Ryan, Ali, Samantha, Ezra, Sonica, Emma and Zac were all set to put our foot on the Big Apple.

Being best friends from childhood brought no change in us and it ultimately lead to many awkward and embarrassing situations even before boarding. It was the 12th of March, a sunny day. A tiring journey of 7 hours but it didn't stop our joy. We were flooded with euphoria as we took our first breath of the City of Dreams. It felt so amazing to be there. There were tall buildings, flooded cars and people moving, dancing and singing. The crowd even at midnight proved that it was indeed The City That Never Sleeps. We stayed at a hotel named Vendetta for the night.

The trip started with a visit to the Empire State building. Many of my friends had acrophobia but the sight was truly striking. Times Square was the best one! For about a week, we covered Brooklyn Bridge, Rockefeller centre, Central Park, The Statue of Liberty and Chinatown. All of them were great places with beautiful sights and different customs. We had one more week left to go back to Mexico. But we were not done with all the places that we wanted to see.

It was a Friday morning when it was decided that we all have to go to Johnny's Reef restaurant in City Island which was very famous for its seafood. It was a long way to the restaurant but the food there was worth the wait. After filling our tummies fully and not being able to walk, we decided to go on a boat trip. Emma, Liam, Zac, Ali, Samantha, Sonica and Charlie refused to come as they were almost ready to puke because of over-eating and also had aquaphobia and seasickness. So we took a small motorboat and started. It felt peaceful as the cold breeze flew through my hair. It made all of us feel stress-free for a second. But then, all of a sudden there was fire coming from the motor. The man who was controlling the boat jumped into the water with a life jacket and went back to the city island. We were shouting trying to stop him and take us but he did not even speak a word. He just swam back to the shore watching us crying for help. I felt that something strange was happening. The fire was spreading too fast because of which we had to jump into the water. We were not as scared as we saw the man swimming back with no problem but we were wrong. Our boat was way too far away from the island but we could see another island that had a few massive, old and rusty buildings. It was also quite far but we had no choice. We either had to stay in the cold water or go and check out the island and find some help. As staying in water could do no help, we swam with all the effort possible to the island.

As soon as we reached the shore, we tried calling Ali and Sonica because they were the only people who could help us without panicking. The phone was ringing but no one was lifting the call. After desperate trials to call Zac, Liam Samantha and Charlie, all we could do was go and search for help. We saw a board as soon as we entered the island which read 'NYC Correction Department Hart Island'.

Siena fainted reading that. We woke her up giving her some water. She was trembling with fear as she woke up. We were all worried about what happened to her all of a sudden. Then she finally spoke 'We have to get out of here right now! We can't stay here. It is too dangerous. We are on the Hart Island!!!! It is well known for the mass burials. Even the place where we are standing now has thousands of unknown bodies buried in coffins. This place is also known to be haunted. Let's go we don't have much time. Let's go!!' I said 'stop! We can't go away from here on our own. The boat is burnt and no one is lifting the call. We need a boat or someone to help us get out of here. I am also worried. But now it is not the time to scare ourselves to death remembering how creepy and haunted this place is. So please understand Cece'. The time I tried to make Siena's mind up, I got scared as hell. But I couldn't say it out. I had to get my friends out of this place at no cost. All of us went into different directions in pairs to find some way. It was so hard to believe that it was a haunted island because it had no creepy trees, paranormal happenings, strange things or scary hints. After an hour of continuous search, we all coincidentally met at a point where there was a big red-bricked building that was not under maintenance. It looked like a house of some rich officials. We found no one outside. As we all were so tired and hungry, we decided to take a look inside.
