-Kathy's POV-
"Kathy!" A loud voice boomed through the wall. I jolted upright and sleepily rubbed my eyes. I glanced at the clock: 10:46am. I let out a frustrated sigh and swung my legs over the side of the bed, standing up to walk over to the boxes at the foot of the bed that held my clothes. I picked out some random pieces of clothes and got dressed. I heard a loud chittering and turned around to the large cage in the corner of my room, smiling and walking over. A silver pelted ferret with a white mask popped its head out of a hanging felt hammock and sniffed at the cage bars.
"Hello there Sheldon!" I said happily, booping his nose with my finger. He let out a few more squeaks then another loud voice startled me.
"Kathy come down here and help me unpack!"
I quickly bolted out of my room and sprinted down the stairs, almost tripping on the last few steps. The living room stretched before me, boxes littering the brown leather couch that was barely able to fit through the door. I huffed and continued past the staircase and living room into the kitchen, my dad unloading a box of mugs and cups.
I peered around the kitchen and noticed my little brother wasn't there.
"Where's Daniel?" I asked confused. My brother is four years younger than me.
"He went out to get some groceries at the store a few blocks down." He replied, starting to put the plates in the cabinets.
I stared at him in shock, "Dad! You don't know what kind of people live around here! He's only thirteen!"
"Well, it doesn't look too bad. Back in the day, I used to go out into town when I was ten! Im sure he can take care of himself." He finished putting the plates in the cabinet and turned toward me and just on time, my brother busted down the front door with three bags of groceries.
"CAN I GET A HOOYAH!" He screamed.
"Daniel! Keep it down, mister." My Dad yelled angrily. My brother then ran into the kitchen, sliding across the floor with his socks and placed the groceries on the counter.
"Ew it's the science nerd." He glared at me jabbing me with his finger, attempting to annoy me.
I scoffed and walked toward the back door.
"Dad can I go-"
"No, you have to finish unpacking the stuff in the living room." He cut me off placing a box in my arms. I let out a dramatic sigh and heaved the box toward the living room placing it down on the floor. I kneeled down and sat on my knees opening it up to find a few decorations for the living room. A few scented candles and books were piled up inside and I shrugged taking out as many books as I could and shuffling over to the bookshelf. I placed them in alphabetical order by the book's name and soon enough the shelf was filled with books. I placed the scented candles on the coffee table and opened another box. This was gonna take forever...After emptying all the boxes and placing everything in the appropriate spot, I finally ran down the hall to the kitchen. "Dad! Now can I go out? I wanna explore!" I asked excitedly. There must be so many things down by the beach! I hopped up and down excitedly and my dad raised an eyebrow.
"Sure, go ahead..." He said. By the time he had finished his sentence I was already running out the backdoor and into our backyard which lead to the ocean. The warm sunlight beamed down onto me, bringing a comfortable cozy type of aura. I ran across the grass over to the steep wooden staircase that lead down to the sandy beach which was dangerously hovering over a wall of rocks leading up to our backyard. I quickly made my way down the stairs, jumping over the last three steps and landing softly in the sand.
"Wow! This sand is really soft." I exclaimed to myself. "Huh, that's pretty weird... Sand normally isn't this soft." I shrugged it off and started walking down the beach, looking at the ground ahead to see if I could spot something interesting. As I walked further, The sand became a little rough and a few rocks and boulders jutted out from the side of the wall blocking the rest of the beach. I ran over and looked around, finding a ton of tidal pools. "Oh my gosh there must be so many things in here!" I leaned over the side of the tidal pool and gazed at the clear water and gasped. There were some tropical fish and coral inside the tidal pools! I let out an excited squeak and sat down next to the pool and spent what seemed to be hours, for when I looked up again, the sun had started to set and the shadows were fading. Ugh... It's late. I should probably start heading back. I stood up and made my way down the rocks, stepping onto the cool sand and making my way back the way I came. This chapter was written by Fox_Freedom
