  I sat in the office of this small diner jacks mom now owns. She had left to take care of something that happened in the kitchen but said she would be back soon. It's been a a couple weeks now since we found out about the baby. My mom was nice enough to get me this job even though it's literally just washing dishes I'll take what I can get at this point. Melody got a little part time job after school at the office at the boys and girls club which is good I don't want her to be heavy lifting with a human in her she's doing enough just holding that in her stomach. But this job is okay though 10 an hour 40 hours a week under the table so It's not all bad. "Okay, so heres your apron you start Friday, dress code is simple any black pants and white shirt will do and non slip shoes please we don't need you slipping and breaking anything" she said while handing me an apron. I took it and smiled. "Thank you so much mrs grazer really it means a lot" i said with a smile. She smiled and nodded "anything for a father in need" i furrowed my brow "I'm not a father yet though?" I said. She giggled "of course you are just because your baby isn't born yet does not mean your not a father finn." For some reason that made me feel better, i don't know why but it did. I took a deep breath and let it out.

"So I'll see you Friday at 5?"
"See you then Finn, tell Melody I said hi"

I nodded at her response and left the back office. I stopped for a minute and looked around at the diner. It was small but it got a lot of service so i knew I wouldn't be bored and id always be busy and that made me sort of excited. Even when i was dealing I always tried to keep going and never stop, it wasn't the money that kept me happy it was the way how it always kept me busy. I let out a small sigh and walked out of the front door.
       After the diner I decided to go surprise Melody at her job and tell her the good news. As I parked into the parking lot I stopped a moment and pulled out a cigarette from the pack in my flannel pocket. I put the stick between my lips and lit it. I sucked in a bit and blew out smoke while getting out and leaning on the hood of my car. As the cigarette burned I stood there wondering what it would actually be like to hold my own kid. I smiled at the thought but my thoughts quickly got interrupted by a familiar voice. " YOU CANT SMOKE HERE" I looked up and my body tensed. "H-hey Nicholas" Nicholas Hamilton, the guy I've been trying to avoid since the day I told him i dumped all his drugs down a sewer and was gonna stop dealing.

"Relax Finnie boy.. where you been?"
"You know a-around.."
"You sure about that?"

I knew he was still pissed at me but i had no choice. He got closer to me and kept a serious look on his face.

"Because it looks like to me you've been avoiding me, hiding from me actually.."

I kept my mouth shut, i knew only bad could come of this conversation so i tried to keep my speaking to a minimum.

" so you got my money ?"
"Nicholas I'll have it soon okay.."
"Soon? No no no you should have had it 5 months ago... you got a free ride cos of your dead brother, rides over.. I want my money."
"I don't have it right now but I'll get it i swear."

He took me by my neck and squeezed it with one hand making me hiss at the tension.

"You better Finn, or that pretty little girl of yours gets it... and so does that little thing growing inside her."
"Don't touch her"
"Get me my money and I won't have to."

He let go of my neck and i gasped while holding my neck. When I looked up he had a expression of inspiration on his face. I arched an eye brow "what?" I asked.

"I got a deal for you"
"Im listening.."
"You and I, we've never had any problems before you were my go to for everything.. so let me help you out.. do a drop for me."
"Nicholas I told you Im done with the dealing, I can't"
"Finn hear me out, you owe me 700 dollars, do this drop for me you'll be paying me back and getting over 13 hundred back.. you don't have to answer now but by next Friday its either your at my door with 700 dollars cash or your ready to make 13 hundred... the choice is yours."

He walked away after that leaving me there still a little shaken up.
I walked into the Boys and girls club and knocked on the office window lightly. Melody looked up from her book and her face lit up. "Finn what are you doing here ?" She said with a smile. I chuckled "just wanted to stop by and see how my princess is doing" she giggled

"im fine what about you?"
"Great I got my car washed , i went to the diner oh and i uh i got the job"

i said with smirk. She practically jumped out of her seat. She left the office and jumped onto me. "Woah baby be careful the baby" i said while snaking my arms around her waist. She smiled "im sorry, im just so happy for you! This is amazing !" She said still with her arms wrapped around me. I laid my head on her and as i breathed i could smell her sweet scent of coconut and realized.. this is perfect I don't need to deal for us to be okay because were perfectly fine.. but it still doesn't help that i have to come up with 700 by next Friday. "Hey gotta go take care of something really quick but I'll be back here at 5 to pick you up okay?" I said while pulling away. She nodded "okay I'll see you then." She tried to walk away but i pulled her arm back gently making her twirl into my arms again. She giggled which made me smile. "I love you" she looked up at me and gave me a soft smile "i love you too" i kissed her quickly and left without another word.

Melody

   I walked out of the boys and girls club searching for Finns car. I smiled when i saw him leaning against the hood with a smile on his face. I walked up to him and wrapped my arm around his neck pulling him into a hug while also taking in the calm scent of his body spray mixed with cigarettes. I pulled away and smiled. "You're happy." He said with an arched eyebrow. I nodded "of course, i have a job you have one now ... I'm 5 weeks pregnant and everyone keeps telling me I'm glowing so thats a plus.. I'm just really happy." I said before letting out a satisfying sigh. He kissed my cheek and walked to my side to open it. "Well your gonna be more happy because we are gonna go to the diner and get something to eat because I'm starving and I'm pretty sure that little baby in your stomach is too." I giggled and nodded "yeah she is" i said while getting it. He leaning down and smirked "she?" He asked. "Yes she, didn't i tell you Im hoping for a girl." He chuckled "yeaahhh I don't know about that." He said before closing the door.
