The Wanted One

Chapter 1

"Mommy! Mommy!" Elicia Hughes yelled running in carrying a basket straining under its weight.
"Whatcha got there?" The ten year olds mother asked. Before Elicia had a chance to answer, her mom pulled the blanket off the topped and suddenly look confused then worried.
"Where'd you find this at?"
"In the river, water was starting to get into the basket and I was worried. Mommy you have to help her!" Elicia whined looking in at the baby in the basket. She couldn't tell the age but the baby girl had black hair and bright blue eyes.
"Fine, we'll take her in," Elicia's mom said rolling her eyes. Gently, she picked up the baby.
"Yay!" Elicia celebrated. "Can I please name her?!"
"Depends what do you want to name her?"
"Let me think on it okay?"
"Okay, deal."
As her mother took the baby into the kitchen Elicia grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and began writing down names.

                 Princess
                 Barbie
"Here mommy!" She said handing the paper to her mom. "I ran out of ideas."
"That's okay honey. Let me finish feeding her then we will think of a name," Elicia's mom said bottle feeding the baby.
Elicia nodded then ran off.
"Hmm let's see. This little girl is strong for still being alive after being out there for obviously a long time and she's graceful, translated into Sanskrit the name for that would be Akira," Mrs. Hughes said thinking out loud. "Elicia dear! Come in here!"
Suddenly Elicia came running in.
"How about the name Akira?"
"Can I call her Kia?" Elicia said excitedly.
"Yes dear," Mrs. Hughes said smiling.

Time flew by, at least according to my mom, it did of course half that time I don't remember. It was a nice spring day. To be exact, it was April 3, 3040. It was my birthday and a Saturday so I got to sleep in until noon then we had birthday cake. "Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Kia! Happy birthday to you!" My mom, dad, and big sister sang to be. I blew out all nine candles at once.
We had fun talking about things that had happened in the past nine years and are cake and ice cream. After that, I got to open my gifts my dad had bought me a necklace that was really pretty. It was an infinity sign with a blue jewel in the middle. My mom gave me a telescope knowing I've always loved the stars. And Elicia, my big sister gave me a watch that our great grandpa gave her but she took it in to get the words "we'll always love you" on the back. "This gift is from the entire family we thought you'd like it," Elicia said smiling at me.
"Thanks! I love you guys!" I said but at the time I didn't realize that would be the last thing I'd ever say to them.
I took my telescope and ran upstairs to put it together and mess with it. The sun was going down when I heard glass shatter followed by Elicia screaming. Unlike most kids, I ran down the stairs and was welcomed by my dad lying dead right in front of me a big gash down his back. I turned and saw the most horrific thing ever that still haunts my dreams. There was a man hovering over my dead mom who had had her head hacked off completely. There was blood spurting out of where her head should be. Scared, I looked around the room for Elicia then saw her laying on the ground badly wounded bleeding a lot. A man was standing over her his axe held above his head. Without thinking, I sprinted over to her and as he was  bring the axe down I jumped and tried to get between the axe and her but I was too slow and only got my arm in the way. The axe didn't stop it took my arm clean off then hit my big sister right in the middle of the forehead killing her right away.
I fell to the ground screaming in pain and anger that she was gone. Suddenly, the sound of sirens could be heard right outside the door followed by knocking. The axe man dropped his weapon and sprinted off and made an escape out the back door. Him running through the backyard then jumping the back fence was the last thing I remember seeing before blacking out.
