College Road Trip: Prolouge

"Mom I really don't think it's a good idea for me too go."

My mother finally took away her head from the food she was preparing and turned her head towards me with a frown.

"Why not? It'll be a good chance too see all the colleges you want to apply to before senior year."

She then handed the plates to me to set the table. As I was setting down the plates my brother walked in slapping the back of my head, like he's been doing for he past 14 years to greet me, as I gave him a scowl.

"Because I don't see the point, I mean I already know exactly the college I want to go too. Plus sitting in an Rv with a stranger for two weeks  isn't really my cup of tea."

Mom then came over setting the food on the table before looking to me with her hand on her hip.

"Nope, me and your father already payed for it so your going."

I opened my mouth to make another retortment to appeal to my case but my brother cut in.

"Why are you even arguing anyways?" My brother said before sitting down. " Your gonna be away for 2 weeks without any parental's around."

I sit down across from him arching my eyebrow.

"And your point is?"

"You get to have sex anytime throughout the day as you want."

I gave him a glare as he gave me a smirk.

"Plus it's not like your a vir-"

I quickly kicked him under the table. My parents didn't exactly know that lost it yet especially who I lost it too.

"She's not a what?"

Said my father as he walked in giving my mother a kiss on her head before sitting down at the end of the table.

"Nothing!"

Me and my brother say in sync as we quickly start to distribute the food around the table. Suddenly my mom dropped a big yellow folder on the table and slid it over too me.

"What's that for?"

I said before opening it and scanning through it.

"It's all the information you need too know about the trip. I looked through and your partner is-"

"Atlas Winters!"

I exclaimed stopping at his name. No no no this couldn't possibly be happening to me right now. If I wasn't going a minute ago then I'm most definitely not going now.

"You sound surprised."

Mom said raising her eyes to me before adding mashed potatoes to her plate.

"Aren't you guys friends?"

My mouth thinned into a line and my teeth clenched.

"We were mom but not anymore." Taking a deep breath I continued. "I need you to change my partner mom."

"Sorry Mel it's to late." My heart stopped as I turned too look at her. "Since I signed you up at the last moment all other partners were taken."

"Now I definitely can't go mom, I'm gonna be stuck with him for 2 weeks and we're not on good terms!"

I said matter of factly making my point more agreeable so I can just stay home.

"No melody, your going and that's final."

My dad said in a commanding voice which said your not getting out of it. My mood turned sour as I started stabbing my fork into my food.

"Maybe this is a good thing." My mom said smiling. "You guys can make amends."

Turning to her with my most sinister frown I looked her deep in her eyes. "I can assure you right now mom, that it's not."

I was in my room finishing some bio home work as a knock sounded at my door.

"Hey melody?"

I turned my head towards the door seeing my older brother Lucas come in before sitting on my bed.

"Yes?"

"Are you okay?"

I wanted to say yes but I knew in my heart I wasn't so I just shook my head casting my eyes down.

"If you feel uncomfortable on that trip with him just call me and I'll be there faster than you can punch his face okay?"

A smile grew on my face as I nodded my head and gave him a hug. "I may not say it a lot like but I love you."

He put his arms around me and kissed my head. " I love you too." He the pulled away and gave me a smile before leaving my room.

My brother may be an asshole at times but he's loving when he wants to be.
