Chapter Four

All The Sins In My Heart
All The Demons In My Head
~~~
I can’t run fast enough,
Or get far enough away.
Everywhere I go you’re there.
There’s gotta be some place,
Where I can give my heart away.
But you are up and down,
All around like air.
All I really need is a little bit of distance.
But here you are again breaking down my resistance.
STOP THE BLEEDING ~ SARAH DARLING
“Where are you going?” Edward asked, his almost black eyes cold as stone as he stared at his son. Philip's hand tightened around the brass knob of the manor door, his light eyes turning away from his father, no intention of answering him. “Answer me, boy.” He snapped, pushing the door closed as it cracked open.
His jade eyes matched the same cold hard anger that shone in his father’s. “Careful, Edward, we wouldn't want them to see the real you, would we.” He whispered, turning his eyes back to the door, giving it a slight jerk, dislodging Edward's palm from the polished wood.
“Stay away from that girl, Philip,” he snarled when Philip started to leave the house. “She's a waste of your time.”
Philip threw a vicious look towards the man. “You lost the right to tell me what is and isn't worth my time long ago.”
“She's bad blood, she'll ruin your chances of ever fitting in with Natalie's real family.”
His hand tightened around the handle again, his knuckles turning white at the pressure. “I don't give a shit about what they think of me, I only came up here because I had business in the city.” He snapped. “And I'm only staying because of that girl down there.”
“I wonder what Faran would think of you fucking his daughter,” Edward spat as a threat. That didn't hit home.
“Tell him. I don't care what anyone thinks.” He paused lowering his voice a little more. “But remember, father, I have plenty of truths I could spill about you too.” Edward just stood there motionless, a look in his eyes telling Philip his father knew exactly what he was referring too, that he could and would tell if pushed. “You can't threaten me anymore, so don't fucking try.”
The frustrated semi-scream snapped Philip quickly out of his recent encounter with his father, his step slowing as he rounded the side of the barn. His eyes instantly caught on the woman leaning against the large stone building, her head tipped down, shielding her face with her long hair, her fingers tangled into the brown locks. He stopped a little ways off from her; perhaps he should have let her sister find her, he had a feeling he would not be welcome if she saw him right now. Hell, from the way she had been staring at him in the house he wondered if he would ever be welcome around her again.
As he stared at her, he debated on whether or not to make some noise that would tell her he was there or just slip away and say he couldn't find her. He cleared his throat slowly, trying to get her attention without startling her. Harley stood up quickly, her dark eyes already shooting daggers venomous enough to kill.
