*RINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG!*
My ears were drumming along my head as I heard the kids leave their class for the last time for three months. I was last to leave my class as I usually am. I said my farewell to one of the best teachers I’ve ever had, Mr. Stallings.
“Bye Stallings!”
“Goodbye Danielle, see you next year for Anatomy I hope?” He questioned me while peeking at me over his old fashioned glasses.
“Of course, you know I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” I rolled my eyes and let a chuckle escape from my lips. I reassured him that I would most definitely be seeing him next year and was off to go meet up with Anjellica and Kerri. I quickly jogged down the stairs keeping my eyes glued to the cement stair case that was covered in chewed up gum from lazy students who threw it there, so I wouldn’t fall. As I got to the end I let my eyes rise up and saw my crush of three years walking towards me. He called my name.
“Hey Danielle, I just wanted to say uhm have a great summer annnnnnnnd…” he trailed off. I could tell that he wanted to say something. So, I pushed him into telling me. “Okay Okay, I also wanted to uhm… well I was thinking that we could possibly hang out, since you know… we live so close to each other.”
I was puzzled at first since he has never asked me this before and we basically grew up together. So I answered “Sure that would be cool.” I couldn’t help but blush a little since I am half Irish and currently pale it shows more; even though I am also half Italian I am nearly pale in the winter and pretty tan during the summer time with green eyes and red hair. Shows which nationality is more dominate I guess…
He smiled the crooked smile that makes my stomach turn upside down and replied “Okay, cool! I’ll call you later, but I have to go now; can’t be late for baseball practice!” I smiled and quickly waved as he started to turn around and jog toward the boys’ locker rooms.
I didn’t noticed I was still staring in the same direction that ran off until Kerri popped up behind me instantly make me jump ten feet in the air.
“Hi there sweetheart, whatcha lookin’ at?” she asked in her soothing southern accent. Her blue eyes piercing the side of my face, I could feel a small hole forming.
“Oh, nothing.”
“Don’t you lie to me now.”
A smile crept onto my lips. I tried extremely hard for it not to show; but I failed miserably. “Jaylen wanted to hang out over the summer.” I admit I was acting like an overly excited 12 year old. I mean I have liked him since 9th grade.
“That’s great sugar.” She paused “I would love to sit and talk with you about it but Anjellica is waiting in the car and you know how she gets when we aren’t there on time.
We walked to the Western side of the school to where Anjellica was parked. She was starring forward and was biting her lip; something she does when she is annoyed. “Where the hell have you two been?! I have been waiting here for 15 minutes!” She nearly shouted as we entered the car silently.
“Take a chill-pill Anji, it’s a 7 minute walk here and..” I paused.
“And?” She questioned.
“And she was talking to Jaylen.” Kerri announced with a bright smile on her face.
“Why didn’t you just tell me that in the first place!?” She squealed.
Anjellica’s personality is very complex; it changes quite frequently.
“I dunno,” I said shyly “Just drive we are going to be late to the movie.”
“You will give us details later.” She didn’t ask me, she demanded it.
