What if they're not doing it just for the club, what if they're actually dating, and have been all of their life; people dont want to get near them, because of their "taboo" relationship, this would explain them only thinking they need themselves. And when haruhi sees her old friend, hikaru becomes jealous because she is paying more attention to him because they barley let any one get close to them, and they allowed her to, hince the jealousy
