(Dan's POV)

I watched in silence as Liam beat up another helpless freshman. The poor kid took hit after hit. His cheek was badly bruised and his eye was purple and swollen. He looked up at me with sad eyes, but i just turned my head. I coulnd't stand to watch this kid get beat up.

I also couldn't afford to stick up fork the kid. Liam would beat me up, and that was the last thing i needed. If I came home.with one more black h my mom would flip. I was already lying to her everyday about what I did in school, and my grades, and me basically. It would tear out her heart if I had to tell her what was really going on.

And plus, I'd made a deal with Liam. If I kept by him, and stayed on his good side, he wouldn't spill my huge secrete.

Lets just say...My gender preference is...undecided.

Liam picked up the freshman, his feet 2, 3 feet off the ground. His eyes were full of pure terror.

Liam let out a deep laugh.

"Wimp!" He shouted, shaking the kid, lifting him higher.

Tears streamed from the kids eyes. His whole body shook.

"Hey!" Someone shouted. A teacher was coming. Liam dropped the kid and started to turn away.

"I'll finish you up later." He growled at the kid. "You just got lucky."

The kid wiped his eyes and ran away from us.

Liam and I started to run away, the teacher beginning to catch up to us.

"Run Howell! " He shouted, turning the corner.

I nodded my head and picked up my pace.

(Phil's POV)

I sat under a small oak tree in the school football field, my notebook propped up on my legs. I had one ear bud in, listening to Muse, my favorite band.

I looked up, some of my black hair falling into my eyes. I smiled and flipped back my hair. I was over due for a hair cut.

I looked down at my notebook again. I had to write a poem about something I loved, but I'm pretty sure Muse, food, sleep and Mario were all not what Mr. Jordan was looking for.

There wasn't anything I loved, no people besides my baby sister, Kayla. My mother had abandoned us when we were little, and my father had died due to cocaine over dose, so I never really loved them, or had a chance to love them. It was just me and Kayla, and the constant money coming in from my grandmother and grandfather.

I shook my head and sighed, leaning my head back onto the tree trunk, closing my eyes.

I sighed, bringing my hands up to my head and rubbing circles in my temples.

"Hey. Mind if I sit here?" I opened to see a tall boy with dark brown hair and deep chestnut eyes.

"S...Sure." I stammered. He gave me a small smile and sat down under the tree.

"I'm Dan...By the Way." He said from his place next to me.

"I'm Phil." I said softly. I leaned my head back on the tree trunk again and closed my eyes.

I heard Dan sigh next to me, and was tempted to see if he was okay.

"I barely know the guy!" I thought to myself. "I shouldn't just go snooping around his business! "

"But something could be seriously wrong with him. He could be...Like hurting or something."

"Then he would as one of his friends for advice. Not you Phil."

I reopened my eyes, my argument with myself starting to give me a headache.

"Hey." Dan said, turning his face to mine, his chestnut eyes boring into my soul.

"Mind if I ask you for some advice."

I smiled sweetly at him. "I don't give very good advice, but I'll try my best."

Dan chuckled, bringing a hand threw his messy hair.

"Bad advice is better then no advice." He laughed.

I smiled. "So what's your problem... or whatever you need advice with."

His face saddened and he averted his eyes.

"I'm not gonna pull that 'My friend wants to know' bullshit. Like, this is me, asking you." He said, his tone turning cold.

"Okay." I said softly.

"So, let's just say I'm in a sticky situation." Dan started.

"I'm being black mailed into doing things I don't really want to do. The person black mailing me, he makes me...Hurt people?" Dan shook his head, hair falling into his eyes. He made no effort to move it.

"The secrete he's holding over my head... Its a big one. If it got out, my life would be ruined. My parents... They're just stuck to a more...Old fashioned way. If they knew my secrete...I don't think they'd love me anymore."

I nodded my head. "Well how exactly did...your Black mailer find out your secrete." I asked.

Dan shook his head. I could see his eyes glazing over. "I don't know. But if it gets out, I'm Fucked."

I nodded my head again.

"That's the only reason I stick with him. I hate doing what I do, but I need him to keep my secrete."

Dan huffed an annoyed sigh and turned his head away from me.

"Dan?" I asked quietly.

"Hmm?" He mumbled.

"Well depending on how big your secrete is, and how bad whatever they're making you do, I would either do what's right and stick up for yourself, or stay with him if the secrete is that important. Personally,I would leave, because one, you're hurting other people, and two, it's not healthy for you to be living under this amount of stress. Its obviously taking a toll on your happiness, it's stressing you out, and it's not good for your over all being." I said.

Dan brought his eyes back to mine, our eyes locking.

I felt drawn to him, like I wanted to be near him, wanted to be with him. Wanted him.

I tore my eyes away from his, blushing.

Dan laughed nervously.

"And you said you didn't give good advice. "
