I was deployed to Iraq in 2004. Hours after I get to the base a guy walks up to me.We talk for a while and become friends .Four weeks later my friend gets a two weeks leave.He gets assigned to be the new gunner on my Captain's Humvee. Because he was not here my captain asks me if I'd like to fill in for my friend and be his gunner.I thought about it but I didn't think spending a lot of time with the Captain was a good idea so I declined saying, "I would sir, but I hear your driver is so bad. He nods and walks away.Now we get ready for the mission.
