*This is a little mother/sun fluff. Edward talks to Esme the night he saved Bella from the guys in Port Angels and takes her out to dinner*
EPOV
I took a deep breath and walked out the back door to Esme's garden. She had her back to me and was planting some snap dragons. "M-Mom?" She turned and smiled at me. "Can I help you Edward?" "Can I talk to you for a little?" "Sure." She lead me over to the edge of the forest and sat on a log bench. She patted the spot next to her. ~You seem nervous Edward~(AN: these are thoughts that Edward hears) I sat down to her and took another deep breath. "Mom, I...There's this girl...You know that new girl, Bella swan?" She looked confused but nodded. ~you saved her from a car, right?~ I nodded and continued. "I....think...I'minlovewithher!" I said quickly. It took her a minute to figure out what I said. ~you really think you love her?~ "What did you do tonight anyway?" "Yes, I saved her from these guys in Port Angels, and I took her out to dinner."~Like a date?~ she was getting excited now. "Not really, I didn't give her much of a choice...." She frowned. "Edward...." "No, not like that. Her friends had already eaten and I told them I would stay so they didn't have to wait to drive her home." She nodded. ~I thought you meant you dragged her along!~ she smiled. "Well? Did you have fun?" "Yes, I was nervous though. We talked about...I..." Come on Edward, just say it, "She knows I'm a vampire!" "EDWARD!" I flinched. She was thinking about me scaring her. Her running from me, calling me a monster... "No, none of that happened." I whispered. "She...she told me it didn't matter what I was." I still wasn't sure how to feel about that. Esme had a huge grin on her face and was singing in her head. "Edward...I think that girl is in love with you!" She sang. That idea made me smile. But, then I remember I was a vampire, She smelled SO good, she was human, I was a monster. I sighed, "It would never work out." I mumbled. When Esme said she loved me, it felt like my heart was about to start beating. Now it felt like I ripped it out. Esme must have seen the pain on my face. She hugged me. "Oh Edward, you love her and she obviously cares about you-why else would she not care that you're a vampire?" I flinched when she said 'vampire'. "Trust me. It'll work out." I looked up at her. I started to feel hopeful again. "How do you know?" "I just do." "But HOW?" ~Men never change~ "Hey!" She laughed and went back to her garden. I looked at my watch, I needed to leave. I wanted to surprise Bella and pick her up for school. "Where are you going Edward, it's still too early to go to school..." ~you're going to Bella's aren't you?~ I looked down and nodded. She lauged, "What are you doing talking to your mom when you could be at 'the girl of your dream's' house?" I laughed and went to get my car.
