What makes a man or woman rise up in the face of adversity – when hope has faded, and all seems lost? Is it the need to right what's wrong? To triumph over evil? To stand up for what you hold true? Or to protect the innocent? I believe that we'd all like to think we're driven by noble deeds. And for some, that may be true. But I also feel that some of us are driven by fears. A fear of being alone. A fear of change. The fear of watching everything you hold dear being snatched away from you – never to be seen again.
In my growing years, I have seen many rise to greatness. Some, I am proud to have called friend. Most of them are gone now, yet their stories will live on. But the greatest story I have ever witnessed, was that of a woman, who – despite losing everything – arose to face the enemy. It is a story of pain, love and loss. A story of how a princess became a warrior. It is the story of the last Aquaian.
