Introduction

Suddenly I'm approached by two figures dressed in a dark uniform holding a pen and paper. "Hello, Harper, I'm Officer Rena. I spoke to you on the phone when you called. Do you remember that?" The female says.

I give a small nod.

"And I'm Officer Morris. Now, I know this must be extremely over-" The other one starts.

"Only, you have no idea. You can't possibly have an idea. No one does." I interrupt, rubbing my arms from the cold.

"Cold?" He asks, and I nod. Officer Morris removes his jacket and puts it over my shoulders. "Okay. You're right, I don't. Can you help me understand?"

I lower my head in thought and shake my head, pulling the jacket closer to my body.

"The only way we can help you is if you tell me what happened." He takes a seat next to me on the curb. "Walk me through it."

I hesitate, then stutter out, "Okay."

"When did this start? We found a young girl..." Officer Rena looks down at her notes, "..Sage Blankenship who we are led to believe was the first victim. Can you tell me more about that?"

"Um.." I shake my head and let out a small sigh, "It happened like the second month after we were invited here. Around then."

She scribbles some stuff onto her notepad then looks back up at me, "Invited here? How so?"

"We all got a letter for this summer camp we applied for during the previous year. I had no clue the others applied too until me and Kris got here. All of us were really close in elementary but drifted apart," I think for a second and stop myself, "Except Kris, Kristopher O'Connell, she and I stayed close." I add, "I just think it was some kind of coincidence they ended up here too."

"Hmm, interesting." Officer Morris buries his nose in his notepad for another fifteen minutes before he finally says, "Can you come with me? I'm going to take you to the station."

I look around anxiously, "What abou-"

"We got her. Don't worry." As if reading my mind, he answers.

I pull my arms into the jacket, zip it up to my chin and let him lead me to his car.

At the station Officer Morris walks me into a big room with one-sided glass window in it. I take in the room. A big metal table with a matching chair on opposite sides of the table. The walls were made out of thick brick. There was a singular gray lamp hanging from above the table, which didn't really do much to light up the room, it only made the room look ominous. I've only ever seen these rooms in crime shows on television, I never thought I'd be in one. Plus I thought they only used these for interrogation, why am I here?

As if reading my mind Officer Morris says, "My apologies, an interrogation room is the only way we can clearly record what you tell us." He motions for me to take a seat in the chair in front of where he's standing, the one facing the big window. "Now, walk us through everything that you can remember."

I run a hand through my hair and sigh. This was going to be a long day. I decide to start from the very beginning, the first night.
