Yi lies in his bed, covered with blankets. His breathing is quiet and he lies completely still. His bed is neat, the blanket covering him was not moved or creased. Yi does not toss and turn but instead sleeps calmly. His goggles sit on the small wooden table beside him, the green glow of the lenses turned around to not shine in his face. The door suddenly opens and startles Yi, he jumps up and turns his head to the door to find Wukong beaming. Yi sighs with a hint of annoyance as he closes his eyes, wishing to fall back asleep.
"What are you so happy about? It's not another one of your pranks is it? If I find crap in my swordboots agai-" Yi says frustrated but is cut off as he rubs his right eye to remove sleep, his left eye staring at Wukong.
"No. no. Not this time, Yi! It's Valentine's Day!" Wukong smiles, revealing his teeth. Yi lifts a hand to his forehead and sighs once again.
"You woke me up due to this ridiculous day? Get out"
"Ridiculous? Yi this is the best day of the entire year!" Wukong exclaims punching the air.
"...and why is that?" Yi replies sarcastically, his voice hinting his carelessness.
"This is the day where I will finally tell Ahri how I feel about her" Wukong smiles softly, he has been waiting for this day to come. A snicker turns into laughter, Yi laughs at Wukong for his foolishness. Wukong stares at him, his smile disappears and is replaced with gritted teeth and a frown, "You don't think I can do it?".
"No- I think you can do it but Ahri-" Yi interrupts himself with small burst of laughter, "Ahri is popular, Wukong. She is possibly going to find herself someone else".
Wukong opens his mouth to say something but stops as Yi shakes his head, trying to control himself.
"I'll show you Yi- I know her. She would not accept anyone" Wukong says with confidence. Yi smiles at him and raises an eyebrow.
"Hm... prove me wrong" Yi chuckles softly as he stretches. Wukong grins back, he knows Yi hates being wrong and proving this would be hilarious.
"I'm not sure why you're poking fun at me, do you even have a valentine?" Wukong shoots at Yi with a smug grin. Yi snorts.
"No. If I do not need or want something then I do not think I should bother" he lies back, adjusting his head on the pillow. Wukong's eyes open wide.
"You... don't want love?" Wukong says with concern.
"Of course not"
"Yi, I think you do"
"Pardon?"
"Well... you seem kind of lonely all the time. I mean even when I met you, you isolated yourself away from the people of Ionia and remained in a glade" Wukong says quietly, his eyes turn to the floor. Wukong knows it is loneliness. When Yi was younger he lived in a village full of people, he had his family, Wuju masters and students to talk to. He may had even loved someone then. However, he lost all of that... he left himself meditating upon a question and his past in a glade. Alone. Even though Wukong and Yi spend many hours training, walking around Ionia and teaching bandits a lesson he still likes to isolate himself occasionally. Yes, he enjoys meditating but Wukong feels like Yi  is stuck in the past sometimes. He needs someone- a partner to make feel at ease, bring him to the present day. He needs someone always there to be with him. He needs love.
"..." Yi is speechless, he looks up at the ceiling, not even blinking. After a short silence he finally speaks, "I'm not lonely. I have friends that are there for me, Wukong. Love is a distraction". Yi slowly rises, sliding a door across to grab a robe. He walks past Wukong, avoiding his eyes. Wukong stares blankly ahead, Yi's words repeating in his head. He tries to make sense of it. Did Yi love someone before and was left heart broken? He sighs deeply. It happens but Wukong believes Yi shouldn't just give up on love after a heartbreak. He shakes his head and follows Yi into the kitchen where he finds Yi biting into an apple.
"I'm going to find you a valentine then" Wukong announces. Yi almost spits out the apple he's chewing.
"No- aren't you meant to meet Ahri right now?!" Yi frowns at Wukong as he takes another bite out of the apple. Wukong jumps up, he can't waste anymore time. He rushes past Yi. Yi shakes his head as he closes the door that Wukong left open.
