Today an elderly woman asked me "why do all of you youngsters take pictures of everything? What's the point of living life through a camera lens and scaring every moment online, instead of just living it to the fullest right now" I did not have a legitimate response for her at first. But after I gave it some thought. I think I have found the answer.
It's going to sound stupid but these social platforms/networks (at least for me personally) project a self image I did not even know that I had. In this increasingly anonymous world of modern technology, the web sites I am "addicted" to (which is mostly Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Tumblr) give me what most of us primarily are looking for, which is an IDENTITY. Well at least Facebook and Instagram have that effect. YouTube and tumblr on the other hand allow me to shamelessly express my interests and passion with little to no negative judgment or ridicule from others. Regardless of how sophomoric it sounds I truly believe that the most difficult thing for any one person to know... Is themselves
