Chapter 4: Duet

I was listening to the teacher when Reese pushed me off of my table. I knew it. But I fell to the ground anyways because if he gets humiliated Britt is gonna make my face a punching bag, so I chose to get humiliated instead. Laughter erupted inside the room and alot of 'Nerd' 'Clumsy' 'Geek' erupted the room. I was gonna stand up when a hand was stretched out in front of me I looked up slowly and Reese standing in front of me smiling apologetically and his eyes saying two words 'I'm Sorry' Ha! Reese Carter saying he is sorry? Is he high? or something? I took his hand cautiously and closed my eyes then was ready for him to let go again but I was hoisted up and  I opened my eyes and see Reese face inches away from mine the laughter stopped and stared at us then Mrs. Morales had to interrupt "Okay, Mrs. Carter I would like you to personally say sorry to Avery, Now" she said a little angry for interrupting her discussion.

"Hell No!" Reese shouted finally taking his eyes off me and to glare at Mrs. Morales.

"Its okay Mrs. Morales... It didn't hurt" I said while going back to my seat when Reese quickly looked at me. "No" Is all he said then he quickly came near me and say the two words I first heard came out of his mouth "I'm really Sorry, Avery" He said with true regret for what he did earlier in his eyes

Woah? Bipolar Much? I froze his hazel nut brown eyes stared at my baby blue eyes.

"Okay, Stop with the lovey dovey eyes and take your seat, Carter" Mrs. Morales said then went back to the board Reese went back to his seat and my mind was flying away when the bell rang and it was my last class which was Music class 

since Britt wasn't there so why not go. I won't get beat up since Britt is suspended, I walked to my locker and put back all my books and took the books that I needed, then went to my Music Class, but instantly regretted it cause Mr. Newton forced me to do a duet with.... Guess who? Well, If you guessed it right pat yourself on the back. Its Reese.

-Back to earlier-

"Oh! Ms. Hale, Glad to see you here.... So, you see you're failing your grades and if you flunk this class you won't graduate, so you have to do a duet to save your grades, and Reese is your partner since he is failing too and he is now in this class, so you guys have 5 minutes before you start your duet in front of the class" My mouth dropped to the floor and my eyes wide as flying saucers.

"What?!" I can't!" I whisper-yelled

"I'm sorry if you don't want to graduate then don't do it" She sighed when she was about to turn her back on me I got a fantastic idea.

"Ms. Velila! I will sing if I turn my back from the students!" I whisper-yelled

"Sure, Why not?" She smiled widely and brought me to Reese.

"Hey Avery!" He waved with a smile on his face

"Hi! Guess were partners now?" He nodded and we talked about our song, but fought about who will play the guitar...

"I want to play the guitar!" I exclaimed 2 minutes left of our time

"Sorry, No can do Butterfly" He said while leaning on his chair putting his hands behind his head closing his eyes "I'm going to play, Butterfly" I sighed angrily and "Fine!" I screamed in his ear and he jerked up from his seat. "Good, Now pick a song." He said simply I sighed we only had 1 minute left so I thought really hard, and suddenly 'Safe and Sound' I looked at the time and we only had 30 seconds left. I panicked.

"Safe and Sound! Come on!" I nearly shouted at him I pulled him up in front the class and turned around while Reese was getting ready I practiced my voice and panicked if Britt found out I will be dead meat when she gets back I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard the guitar all ready strumming to the song.

Then I started singing.

I remember tears streaming down your face when I said "I'll never let you go" When all those shadows almost killed your light... Reese sang the 'light' with me and he stared at me wide eyes while I just closed my eyes while trying to get lost in the song

I remember you said "Don't leave me here alone" But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight. Reese sang the 'tonight' with me and our voices mixed perfectly our melody was perfect and so angelic.

Then the chorus came and we both sang at the same time

Just close your eyes. The sun is going down, You'll be alright No one can hurt you now, Come morning light You and I'll be safe and sound. I opened my eyes and stared at Reese's Hazel nut brown eyes and stared at him while we were singing.

Just close your eyes, The sun is going down You'll be alright No one can hurt you now,Come morning light You and I'll be safe and sound. Me and Reese were seriously staring at each other his eyes had something in it but I couldn't get it right.

Oooh, Oooh, oooh, oooooh. It faded and realize me and Reese were inches away from each other staring at each other. We heard claps and some sniffling I turned around and see some people crying from tears of joy while clapping some were videoing. For once I didn't care, For once I felt free, For once I wasn't Afraid. Maybe Reese can help me be free, forever?
