Chapter four ---
I stare at them until they start inching forward. Picking up pace as they go. I turn and sprint through the trees. Leaves whipping my face as I go.
I turn to see if they have followed. They have. what can I do. Only what I do best. I cross my fingers and hope for the best. The tingling starts at my feet and moves its way up my body. I look down. One point to me. They are still on my tail. My powerful cougar legs pushing me forward. Pounding on the hard, dry earth. Their smell lingers, knotted in my fur. How far away are they. They must be close now. I hear my heart in my throat as I realise, it's now or never. I take the leap hoping for the best. What more can I say, this is my day.
