It started in middle school. After three years of friendship they fell in love.
Two kids in two different worlds.
Adrian was a gamer; he listened to rap music and played games like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto.
Skylin was a fourth year medical student; she listened to Broadway musicals and read romance novels. To the public, they had nothing in common. Sure they looked cute together, but that was the only true quality.
They didn't give a shit about the publics' opinion. Sure, they were young, but that didn't change anything. They loved each other, and for the first time in a long time, they were happy. Their worlds danced in time with the beating of their hearts.
It was something they thought would last, they were both almost certain of it.
Sky wasn't known for having long lasting relationships. This was her eighth boyfriend and she prayed that he wouldn't see her flaws right away.
She had weird habits. Scars covered her wrists; she only hoped he wouldn't notice.
She had a past that she knew was out to get her, a past she never wanted him to know about.Sky hasn't told Adrian anything about her past, except for maybe the important things. Like, where her mother is, or where she moved from.
He never questioned her.
Adrian listed to her problems, even if it was something about their relationship. He sent her things that made her smile. Even if it was something as simple as an "I love you" message when she was sick.
They spent their nights together on the phone. He would usually fall asleep first, and her later, put to sleep by the soothing sound of his snores.
Years have passed, and now she's in college. They still have those late night chats. He buys tickets for her to fly back out to see him on breaks.
One break, Adrian knew he was about to change both their lives.
As he waited for her at baggage claim, his palms turned white and he broke into a cold sweat. As soon as she saw him, Skylin gripped tighter onto her carry-on baggage. Smiles grew on both of their faces as she quickened her pace.
When they came face to face, she dropped her bag at his feet and leaped into his arms. A crowd formed around the couple in the Nashville airport that night, as the two shared the long awaited kiss.
When they pulled away, a slow clap rang out, startling them both. Soon, everyone around them was clapping for no apparent reason.
The ride to her father's house that late night was long and quiet, except for those occasional moments when a song came on the radio that Adrian knew. Skylin would giggle at his extremely out of tune voice, but would also sing with him.
As he pulled into her father's drive, she went to quickly unbuckle her seat belt. As she started to the grab the door handle, he grabbed her arm gently, taking the keys out of the ignition.
Adrian's gaze adverted to her dark green eyes that had changed over the years. Sky stared back into his blue ones that have looked the same since the first time she saw them. Her expression went from relaxed to a mixture of startled and scared. He sent a reassuring smile back in her direction and opened his door, stepping out of the vehicle, then jogged to the other side to open hers.
As she stepped out, he grabbed her hand and running to the space where a spotlight of moonlight ran through a gap in the trees. He turned on their song, spinning her around and around. She laughed as the moonlight caught in her brown locks, making her glow with every twirl.
She muttered the words that play in the background, effortlessly, swaying to the music in his arms. "You've took these two left feet, and waltzed away with my heart." He soon let go of her as the last line of the song was sung. "'Cause I don't dance..."
Skylin spun back around to face him, but Adrian had disappeared. She turned her head left and right and he finally called her name. She turned in the voices direction to see him kneeling in the moon's spotlight.
"Will you marry me?"
(A/N) I don't have much to say except, "Hey, new book!"
